Re: Trevor Jacob "staged" plane crash

Is it actually a regulatory infraction deliberately to crash an airplane in Canada? Gross negligence, reckless endangerment are a couple that come to mind. Letting a plane ghost fly through the sky to crash into the hillside where it could have hit any number of hikers or campers is incomprehensibl...

Well, that’s an incident. He’s basically barred from any job that asks if you’ve ever had an incident or an accident. /s

Re: The "accidents or incidents" interview question

I mean....Even a go-around counts as an "incident" these days, and a CADOR is filed. No, it’s not. As for answering yes to an accident or incident, it depends on the context I suppose for myself. I’ve had an engine fire in flight that necessitated a shut down, obviously. Should I be barred from a f...

Re: What's The Likelihood of Getting My Cat 4?

While I’d encourage you to take a CAME, unfortunately it’s going to be extraordinarily likely you will be disqualified from holding a medical. A friend of mine was going down the path of becoming a commercial pilot (PPL, Multi, IFR down), and when he got diagnosed (bipolar 2), it was a show stopper.

Interesting. I wonder what the legalities are about being put on a no-fly list when your only means in and out of the community is by air travel?

Re: 737 in the water off Hawaii

Confident someone already knows the cause. Maybe we need a poll? It will be interesting to find out why it went down. Good to hear crew was rescued. I heard the live ATC audio about an hour ago. They lost the number one engine. Were returning to land while completing the QRH. A few minutes before t...

The -200 does make for a pretty slick stealth machine. At night, no one outside of 25km from the airport would ever know you where there!

Because it looks cool AF. Black is executive. It's likely a brand thing. Instantly recognizable. A black 1900 or PC12 grabs your attention more more than a generic white plane.

Re: Canadian Registered Ted Smith Aerostar Down in Florida

Could they have chosen a more callous person to be interviewed? Guess the pilot fulfilled his life, his time to die. Sorry the pax had to be beside him when god took the pilot out in a plane crash. Hopefully the passenger makes a full recovery. Good things come out of bad things - except for the pil...

a self test with a computer application showed my hearing from 10db's to 10,000 dbs, which far exceeds the hearing requirement, That's really loud. No wonder you don't have any hearing left. :smt040 So loud in fact, it’s several orders of magnitude above the level (1,100dB) needed to destroy the en...

Really. What is this going to accomplish. He won’t read them, and in some crazy universe where he does, I don’t think he’ll get the message when one in 10,000 cards say #savecanadianaviation Clearly the federal government isn’t interested in doing a bailout. It’s not because they’re deaf and blind t...

Re: Landing at night before the lighted displaced threshold

My own opinion and interpretation coming but... I don’t see why it would be illegal. It’s a surface prepared for the purpose of take off and landings, and you’re not causing a hazard to the general public. I operate in and out of 3,500ft strips of reserves day in and out. I always taxi behind the li...

Re: RJP MyIdTravel Air Canada Prices

Not sure if this has to do with what you’re talking about, but I do know we get hosed by taxes and fees when travelling inside Canada. YYZ to LAX return for example is 72.88 right now. Broken down, it’s 68.94 YYZ to LAX, and 3.94 for LAX to YYZ. I don’t outwardly complain, because I mean, well 72.88...

Retire at 45, and GTFO of aviation. I’m done. Would rather do something else. I’d leave now, but I can’t retire and the lifestyle and pay is unlikely to be matched by anything else out there. I still love flying don’t get me wrong, it’s just I have other aspirations now. I’d try and get my own plane...

Re: Alternate Minima and ETAs

I’ve never heard of FIC caring either way what was filed. It’s like approach ban or IFR capabilities or currency or medical fitness. It’s up to you to determine whether you are legal or not. And if you aren’t then it’s up to TC to levy inforcement action or the TSB to find cause or risk if you are ...
