Re: PS 752 Thread locked
...perhaps we should start a petition to have the government buy-back AvCanada and nationalize it. The means of production should be in the hands of the posters. Contributors of the world unite! You have nothing to loose but your chains!

Re: Shortage of Military pilots
Why does avcanada always assume the worst? Because its true? It seems like they are slowly moving towards the way of privatization, and do nothing for retention for their pilots and any other trade. As much as I would love to lay the lack of retention efforts at the feet of the GOFOs, not all of th...

Re: Shortage of Military pilots
Does anyone else smell something bad with this. Reminds me of a few years back when Flying Aces was started by Discovery air and ran by a bunch of ex airforce pilots to run decoy planes for the CF18's to chase. They were able to under bid the company that had the contract for years. I am sure they ...

Re: Joining the RCAF at 37 years old
To be a pilot in the RCAF, you have to be an officer. We can debate the merits of the policy, but officers need to have at least at university undergraduate education. There are sone who don't but they're the exception and they are supposed to attain it. A RCAF pilot does not simply fly. In fact, i...

Re: Joining the RCAF at 37 years old
They will recruit someone with 0 flight experience and a university degree over a experienced civilian pilot with 10'000 hours and no university degree. Their loss I guess. No the RCAF does not think like that. People who are not in the RCAF should really stop spreading third hand information that ...

Not correct. You can quit anytime before you get your wings. You get your airframe selection at the end of Moose Jaw.valleyboy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 11:20 amBut you can't quit once you commit to flight training.Code: Select all
If your buddy was really top of the class, he would have gotten his first choice.

Re: Gas guzzling trudeau plane
Using two planes does not make Trudeau a hypocrite. Yes it does. He has told the rest of us that we must reduce our carbon footprint, and yet he makes no effort to do the same. That is hypocrisy. Maybe he would have normally used three planes? So he did reduce his footprint. This is not hypocrisy. ...

Re: Military license to CPL
Then they should have put PIC time in the requirements - which they did, but they added extra solo time as well. PIC in a multicrew airplane, presumably with a bunch of engines, does not help you to hone your skills in forced landings, spins and stalls for example. One could argue that the extra ad...

Re: Military license to CPL
Solo time is defined as being the only flight crew member. By that definition, PIC time in a multi crew airplane shouldn't count. But who knows what they will accept in real life... The purpose of the solo time is two fold. 1.) Polish handling skills, and 2.) Build skills and confidence as a pilot ...

Re: Joining the RCAF at 37 years old
It will be difficult - i had a friend who likely had 6 or 7 thousands hours and mid to late 20's.He was accepted and actually did the boot camp, stood first in his class but when push came to shove they would not even say that he would be a pilot. He didn't like that prospect so he quit and went ba...

I joined at 35. The physical training during basic was a challenge but other than that my age wasn't much of a problem. PM if you have further questions.

OK, y’all don’t want JT back as PM and/or think he has been a disaster. For sure and fair enough, tell us then who should replace him. Just asking! 1.) Harper 2.) Harris 3.) Scheer 4.) O'Leary 5.) Conrad Black 6.) Lewis McKenzie ... I could continue the list, but the only people below Trudeau are J...
