Re: Has anyone else quit right before their CPL Test?
The most common response I get in social situations when asked about what I do is “I could have been a pilot but…”. don’t be that person. Finish what you started, you’ll never regret that much. If something better calls to you, no problem, but don’t give a reason to look back and wonder “what if”. Y...

They weren’t given access to their bags for two days, I understand being a bit miffed about that.

Re: FSI vs CAE
Customer service has been phenomenal with FSI, only passable with CAE. We’re also finding quality instructors seem to stick around more at FSI whereas CAE has let some great people leave by not looking after them properly.

Re: Encountered Severe Weather Enroute Thread
I was suspecting that. Jetstream turbulence is not really encountered much around there(try Japan). Wonder if they were not paying attention to the radar. Same question about an AC turbulence encounter near Hawaii a couple of years ago. You are dealing with a phenomena called "Dry Tops" where the m...

When you're "cleared" but not CLEAR. Multiple Incursions
It's certainly been a rough week for runway incursions and as much as the topic of pilot situational awareness always bears repeating, these latest incidents reinforce that ATC is just as capable of losing the big picture. They are working in an imperfect system and are just as prone to human error ...

Re: Corporate Schedules
So schedule is 2 days call out at the least. Usually much more? Correct. But if something big happened they’d want that aircraft’s engines lit asap. Right on. Interesting! Does that mean you can't have a beer like ever? or take an afternoon trip like a 4 hour drive away or something? Just in case t...

Likewise, I’m doing 200-250 hours per year for the owner. Shortest callout has been 2 days, but very rare. I typically know my trips months ahead of time. I take vacation around the aircraft or fly the ‘missus’ out if I am somewhere fun. If I have something special going on they’ll get a decent con...

Re: Tough Decision Making
Tough decision, indeed. Perhaps there were better outcomes here, tough to say without complete hindsight 20/20 armchair flying, but there certainly were far worse scenarios if that engine had stopped entirely at unfavourable point in the dark. We’ll chalk up zero souls lost a win in this tough scena...

Here's a great one for laughs. "BC Yukon air" on pcc is asking for 2000hrs to fly a Piper cub !  Hope to god they were late on april fools First off, it’s a Beaver/Super Cub position. Next, did you read the part about it being for BC Parks and Forestry personnel? Also, how about that loc...

Pilot Steals School’s Aircraft, Crashes.
Advised ATC that he would not be communicating further with them, 5000ft per minute descent in a 172, apparent suicide. Yet another case of enacting a permanent solution to a temporary feeling. I assure you, it’s not worth it, whatever you’re going through, reach out to someone, spread that load, yo...

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I saw that headline, but the condition of that A350 sure caught me off guard. Incredible work by the JAL flight attendants to get everyone out quickly without losing anyone; true professionals.
