Re: 2015 ice out
Lake of the woods ice patrol has up to date coverage of the Kenora area and into Manitoba. Most of the trout lakes are still fully covered but everywhere else seems to be opening up quickly.

Re: Survival Gear
I have a bag made up with most of items already listed but I also roll up my bright red wing covers and throw them in the back of the plane for shelter or a means of signalling

Re: Calibrating Torque Wrenches
When my wrenches come back each one has a calibration form listing the different settings they were tested at and the actual torque at each of the settings. If an adjustment is made they add another column listing settings and actual torque after the adjustment.

Re: Preheat
You could also look at a tundra toaster which is the same idea as the red dragon. I know people that use it and it works well. The reason I use an agm battery is because even when it is completely discharged it will not freeze and break open.

Re: Preheat
We tried one of those heaters with ducting fabricated to direct the heat up into the cowling. We found it gets too hot. The red dragon moves a lot more air at a temperature that is lower and is less likely to melt things. The red dragon with a small agm quad battery doesn't take up that much room.

Re: Norseman on Railway Tracks
First time posting lots of history there. In the middle of changing my airplane over to floats in reddit right now. Just waiting for my prop to come back from getting repitched. My AME still has some work to do but should be ready to go in a week or so.
