Re: King Air Rudder Pedal Full Deflection

I can't say about the King Air A100, but the B200 has a special condition in its certification which is not well known. It can reach yaw angles in flight approaching 40 degrees in either direction. This can be aggravated with the gear extended. The stability in yaw is less that ideal, though still ...

I used to fly a 172XP amphib. It's a half tanks and two average sized guys and that's about it kind of airplane.

Does it though? I've had my Dual GPS hooked up to my iPad while in the house and I still had a moderately good signal.

Re: Water Rudders

Any idea why they wouldn't just design it to retract a little bit further? Seems like a silly thing to have to deal with everyday...

Water Rudders

Hey everyone,

I've noticed recently a few floats have water rudders that seem to hang really far down into the water even when they're retracted... Is there any reason for this? Are they set up wrong? Seems like it would make beaching impossible without bending them.

Thanks

Regardless whether it was a bit over-dramatic or not, I thought the premiere was great. I bet if I went up and got myself into an inverted flat spin I would s**t myself...

Industry Canada & the radio license

Hi all,

Has anyone dealt with Industry Canada to get a radio license when it was a time sensitive issue? I remember when I got mine it took about two weeks... However if you're able to get an appointment in one of the regional offices, can that process happen faster?

Thanks for your time

Re: Winter Float Rating

I'll third what was said about Air-Hart and Ocean Air. I've had lots of friends do their training with Air-Hart in Kelowna, and they've only had good things to say. I personally did my training with David Budd who owns Ocean Air in Victoria, and all I can say is that he's a great pilot and I benefit...

Re: Floatplane in high winds/heavy waves

As some of you have already surmised, I probably am overestimating the wave height. What I've assumed was 2-3 feet probably was not. Can't say I've ever really scared myself in large waves and I tend towards being overly cautious, so you guys must be correct.

Floatplane in high winds/heavy waves

Hi all, As a somewhat novice floatplane pilot working in the North, just wondering what your guys' limits when it comes to wind and waves. My time is split fairly evenly between flying on the Ocean, and the rest mainly on lakes on the Canadian Shield. From my couple hundred hours on floats, I start ...
