Re: Retirement Dreams
Retired at 56, have my house on an island in Northern Saskatchewan, and a 185 tied to my dock. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

Fly the airplane first, if and when it’s safe make the call.

Re: Hawk Air
Yup, did the exact same thing. Warming up on a near empty tank, got busy with my two young grandkids. Departed a very small lake, just got airborne and she went very quite. Came to a stop just a few feet from shore. Felt like a complete idiot.

Re: 703 one employee?
I operate with just myself, I’m the PRM, ops manager and chief pilot. As I’m semi retired I can pick and choose what work I want. I only take on two contracts and fly about 150 hrs per year.

People lose their jobs all the time, supply and demand. Should the government bail out every company that is going broke? Hell no.

Re: Chapter 11.
Let them go broke, why should they be bailed out. Poor service offered by all airlines, to many flights to the same city, at roughly the same time. I’m tired of private companies getting free money. Let the weak go broke and the strong survive, or new one start up.

Re: Mud swerves a plane
Think there is more to the story than mud. Plane was just converted to a tail dragger. It has drum brakes that both come on at the same time, when and if they are both working.

See so many guys only use 20 degrees and beat the crap out the 185. Get proficient using full flaps.

Re: Covid-19 impact of float operations
If this continues I can see a few operators locking up. Insurance has sky rocketed, and rates can only increase so much before it’s not economical to charter unless you are on government business.
