Re: So, anyone self isolating in their airplane lately?

I did some self isolation from 5000 feet last night Figured it was time to keep up my night currency.

I also endorse Stratford Air Services. Another benefit is flying out of an uncontrolled airport you are quickly in the air and focusing on the task at hand. Larger airports (London & Kitchener) are quite nearby for when you want to practice something in a controlled environment.

I have just started calling for NOTAMs. If everyone did that perhaps the site would get improved. Accessing it on a mobile device is near impossible, so I call.

Re: Flying from the right seat

When I first started flying tailwheel I had issues being left handed. I always wanted to grab the stick with my left hand naturally but that obviously creates an issue for the throttle. Then I started flying my Cherokee right seat to force the left hand on the throttle. After a few weeks of right se...

Re: Imagine a Greyhound bus in 1999. Now imagine it is in the air

I recently took a chance on Spirit and flew DTW - JAX. Somehow I managed to get the entire row to myself in both directions on full planes. $110 roundtrip. Can't really beat that. I have to say I have no complaints as I knew what to expect going in. It was actually much more pleasant than I anticipa...

Re: I washed my license and need some help.

I washed mine once, but got lucky. It was mostly legible and the new one was due within a few days when Transport was reissuing everyone to a 10 year. It goes in my pocket when I fly the J3 since there is no where for the flight bag.

Re: Possible Government assistance for training pilots.....given to the airlines?!

I guess we know where the 10% luxury tax is going now!

Still not a pilot shortage, but pay shortage. I'd go get my commercial license if it paid well enough, but I couldn't afford to live on the entry level wages.

Lots of 110k airplanes just became 99k with an 11k pile of "spare parts".

Poorly thought out tax.

Re: Spins Not Specified In POH, Illegal?

All early PA28-140's can be spun - just read your POH. After being mentored and getting comfy with my PA28 I spun it many times. I highly recommend any advanced flight training on type or mentoring.

I did my PPL in 8 months at a local flight school (evenings and weekends) at the age of nearly 40. Surely a college can do it quicker with a full time program?

I only log take-offs and landings for night flying. I barely seem to get enough to stay current these days for night flying. Often requires some circuits before taking friends for a flight.

Re: Medical

I don’t believe you can hold two different medical category certifications at once. You have whichever is printed on the decal in you blue book. The Category 1 medical is good for five years to exercise PPL privileges, or two years after your 40th birthday, whichever is shorter. Cat3 Medical before...
