Re: Keewatin
Curious... What does the Keewatin Flight Nurse make.... sitting in the back of the King Air$$$$? I think it's safe to say the medic makes what both pilots make together combined. If you don't like the wage don't apply. Shouldn't take long and they'll bump the pay right up. Other operators paying 12...

Stop dumbing it down and restricting, and start increasing training quality.

Re: SOP to land with 10 degrees of flaps in 172?
I see a number of flight schools here have an SOP that says to land their 172s with 10 degrees of flaps unless doing a short field landing. I'm curious what the reason is. They don't mind if you land with more flap even if it's not short field, but they teach their students to do normal landings wi...

Re: Anglophones Flying Out of Montreal
So if I get this correct, when flying in Manitoba near Winkler, I should speak german, then as I fly West over a Hutterite colony I should speak whatever they do, as my next leg takes me up North, over to Cree? Isn't the aviation language English, not for lack of respect, but so we just know what is...

Re: Career move where to go
So I ended up going for the captain gig, the company seems to be more of my type of people, and there will be more variety in the flying, plus the ATR won't be immediate, so it ended up being a much easier decision than I initially thought. Excited and happy to be where I am in aviation. Thanks to a...

Re: Career move where to go
What kind of flying is it? Is it fuel hauls in the ATR and 24hr medevac in the be20? What's the pay? What's the sked? Are you looking to build your time or get the lifestyle? Which one will suit those and your long term career goals better? There are way too many factors than simply ATR vs. King Ai...

Re: Career move where to go
Ignore that last guy, he's well known for being a few putts short of the hole. What does the upgrade time look like on the ATR? Lots of factors, like what ya have for pic time already, future plans, etc. Neither would be a bad move I'm sure. If it were me, I'd probably go for capt, but that's just ...

Other factors are almost all equal which is why details weren't posted. Really the question is the MPIC Turbine vs right seat in my book.... then the career later on. I have no idea what I want in 5 or 10 years, maybe big tin, maybe not, home close to every night is nice.

Re: Keystone Navajo Accident in Thompson
Was at the Thompson Esso today, doors are still locked. Nice brand new covers on the pumps that say what type of fuel it is. Heard a great idea of simply putting a color coded band around the truck to identify fuel. It would stick out like a sore thumb if it was in front of the wrong plane, even if ...

Re: Why so little interest in tailwheel flying?
I teach on a bunch of different types including a 7ECA, it's funny most people are concerned about how much more it is per hour, funny thing though, between me and the other instructors on the plane we find our tailwheel guys average completion time is quite a bit less, enough to offset the training...
