Re: Swoop
The only thing that was a plus at WJ over AC was no reserve. That is now gone. All other elements of compensation are effectively equal to or better at AC Career progression and options are better at AC. Career earnings will be higher at AC About the only reason to fly at WJ is if you dont want to w...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft
Is it true that Swoop pilots are being told they will slot into the WJ seniority list based on position? Not DOH-based... position based. FOs given a seniority number equal to the bottom of WJ FO list, and Captains given a seniority number equal to the bottom of the WJ Captain list? False. Currentl...

YOS - asking for industry standard Crew Rest and Duty - asking for international standard ( as used voluntarily by other Canadian airlines as opposed to Canada's current archaic regs) Trip Rigs - asking for industry standard Payscales - that meet the same established scales by airlines with similar ...

...and the top three items for a vast majority were YOS, Trip/Duty and Swoop. So that alone is batting a 1000.

Re: Exit Polls Showing Over 90% Strike Mandate Support
Was Weedpro2000 out picketing? Inquiring minds want to know. :) He wasn't. I read the CEO's direction not to inflame the situation, and thought, he's probably right. Maybe you can start by wearing your pink collar shirt to work John. Was that to support the Swoop pilots or anti bullying? Looks like...

Re: Flair won't fly our passengers.
Another interesting Flair note...they've been consolidating flights due to low loads.
So curious to see how the expanded routes network will play out.

Re: Gloom & Doom Q2 outlook...are you kidding?
Not sure why at every airline I have worked at, Pilots think they are all at the top of turd island and should always get top dollar and be looked at as the highest level as of everyone in the company. Tough sh!t. Put your head down and do your job. You don’t like it, Go else where. You want to tur...

Re: Vote results.
It's a bit sad to see the chest-thumping - no one "wins" a strike vote. just another firm step down a well-trodden road. Enjoy your picketing. I know AC will! If you believe what you just said then you clearly don't truly understand the significance of this vote. In many ways it's not eve...

Re: Exit Polls Showing Over 90% Strike Mandate Support
Apparently the 787 will be revealed tomorrow...good timing with the pilot picket tomorrow as well. Good timing? It's a great way to build resentment against the pilot group sure. That feeling is growing outside of the FA and pilot ranks. Take that to the bank. Leaders in the company? Not anymore. N...

Re: Exit Polls Showing Over 90% Strike Mandate Support
Update to polling now showing a slight bump up to 94%.
Clearly showing the solidarity within the WJ pilot group and certainly a clear message for the executives.

Exit Polls Showing Over 90% Strike Mandate Support
Recent Exit Polls Showing over 93% support by Westjet pilots for the strike mandate.
This is indeed a very high level of support and resolve by the pilot group.
It will be interesting to see if it changes WJA approach to the negotiations.

Re: Encore - Not Worth It
Hi Guys I'll get the latest facts on the agreement etc and post them when I have a chance. They are definitely moving ahead on that. I do know that both Westjet courses in May will have 50% flow from Encore (8 pilots coming over). Too far out for July to know yet, but it looks good. As for attritio...

Re: Encore - Not Worth It
KK7, So we agree on many things it seems: -It is all work in progress. Except that it didn’t/doesn’t have to be. They could have done it proper from the get go but chose not to. -There was a ‘retention’ proposal (lets call it) that is no longer in play. The reasonable inference here is that it is no...

"I have a hard time seeing Encore forcing you to work 24 days. I can see it being optional, and in lieu getting 4 additional days off in your consecutive month if you did end up accepting those additional days." If you thought you were getting 4 days of OT you may have worked those as well. "Or no....

Re: Encore - Not Worth It
I think you're incorrect as to how overtime works. If your contract says Max 20 days a month of flying and you fly 21 then you just worked on a day off and get overtime rate for 1 day. The other possibility is you work like a rented mule in 19 scheduled days and do 100hrs then you get 90 at regular...
