Toronto Area Q for General Aviation folks
Question for the Toronto Area, VFR General Aviation folks. I am looking at crossing Lake Ontario from OO-NDB to SN-NDB on A21 as I am not interested in flying around "the Horseshoe" Has anyone crossed over on that air route recently? Does YYZ ATC let you climb up to 6500' or 8500' to cross over? Lif...

Re: COVID MOA 2
ALPA merger policy isn't DOH. ALPA C is nothing as far as setting ALPA policy. They are a Canadian lobbyist. Under the changes negotiated for ACPA merger, we do not join in ALPA C anyway, we join ALPA A. Even so ALPA C is restructured and the ALPA C President position is removed from holding a voti...

Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
I do remember a few weeks ago in the YYZ crew room a pilot showing my F/O a website regarding change designed by a junior group of frustrated pilots. I only got “ heresay” so cant comment any further. Anyone else heard of this? TS That website is designed by a low time loud mouth that is counting h...

Re: Potential Strike Topic?
I don't think higher gauge less frequency applies to LGA, DCA, EWR, DFW, BOS, ORD and ATL. All will stay mostly with 76 seat jets either 900s or 175s. The forgiveness on slots will only be for a very short term, then back to use them or lose them. Also, 25% of Air Canada's NB fleet is already parked...

Re: Potential Strike Topic?
Jet fuel prices are also tanking making those old 175's cheaper (than before) to operate.

Re: C Series lands at EGLC. Toronto Island loses out. Again.
I am all for commercial air service at the Island, but I think the “seats” it can serve is pretty close to the max for its infrastructure. Adding larger airplanes would require less flights as it is already a gong show on the land side of the operation. Not enough space right now for taxi service an...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
Jazz vs Sky A few big differences below 1. Benefits. Jazz’s benefits are way more in depth than Sky’s however you also PAY way more for it. A guy/girl in his late 20’s or early 30’s is not interested in financing the “freedom 60 plan” and pay for an old guy’s last five years. The premiums are expens...

Congratulations to the pilots at Sky Regional. Way to step up and be part of a global pilot community.

Re: Union at Sky
How is the drive going? If it is this far along and they haven"t filed yet, means it is very close. Reasons? 1. Attrition. 2. Many supporters who are too lazy to sign and send in cards.  If this fails, then expect a pushback from the company in working conditions (because they can) and g...

I agree! What is taking so much time? I believe they are waiting on some people who gave their word that they will sign a card. Come on folks! Dig it up and give it to an OC member! 5 bucks! That"s all! Anyways, I believe there is a great video being released with lots of Q"s and A's about ALPA and ...

Re: Union at Sky
I don't see anyone asking for a Ritz Carlton. Just asking for a safe hotel where you feel comfortable going for a walk and getting some fresh air. Sky Regional's wellness program suggests strongly to go outside as it is good for our mental state.

US Regionals?….Good luck. They can't even find pilots to fly point to point in the US. Plus, I think they are a lot more expensive than say 5 years ago. International ULCC's?….Isn't Norwegian just about bankrupt? Jazz too expensive?….probably. They have a VP for this and a VP for that and then 6 mor...

Re: Swoop Blacklist
I get the impression that there is no ownership for the creation of Sky Regional by ACPA. Wasn't there a clause in the old contract that limited regional flying to just one carrier? (JAZZ). I know, I know, that clause was taken out by FOS arbitration. But was it? Not pointing fingers here, but I hat...

Pros and Cons of owning a Maule
I am looking at owning a smaller float plane that can handle two adults and a child. I have been searching N. American websites for C172, C180, and C182's and have come across several Maules. To be honest, I don't really know too much about them other than a casual word here and there that their win...
