Re: Flight Schools near Vancouver
I'll second the SkyQuest, its been a few years but their prices were good and so was the program, didn't waste money and didn't go through any BS. got whati paid for and they worked around my schedule. worth a look!

Re: Midlife Career Change
I say go for it. But remember this industry can turn on a dime, and there are no guarantees. The economy and aviation industry are long over-due for a correction. Just stay out of debt! nah man, its a pilot shortage! "This Generation will be the first to go through their careers without layoffs!" -...

Re: Completing CPL on Multi and building 125 multi hours
A light piston twin is a light piston twin.....usually...... There is one option that imo would be of greater benefit and it would be to do your multi hours in a plane you can get a job on. (Not too many commercial Dutchess' and Seminoles flying around) Best example I can think of.........A Navajo. ...

Re: Completing CPL on Multi and building 125 multi hours
its a tough choice. I know Langley flying school a bit and my advice is to really really read the fine print and be informed before going into anything there (As with anywhere)...multi engine hours often have weird fees and stipulations with it, keep a close watch on that. Multi pic time is ideal if...

Re: Getting older, does life/work experience count for anyth
I work with a Navajo cpt. Whose mid 50's. Don't think he has any intentions of flying 705 but seems pretty pumped about getting into aviation. Instructed for a while then started flying 703 in his 50's. Good guy. Excited to see what happens

Re: Apprentice Pilot
Northwright still calls their pilot rampies wannabes...along with a slew of other things we could gossip all day about. But the apprentice pilot is essentially a pcc'd rampie. Imo it's just a way to bond people to the ramp and dangle a few hours in front of them for a bit...can be a nasty industry t...

Re: Is a single engine ifr rating useless?
Not useless if you're looking for a caravan or pc12 job (or a small piston Ifr job if you can find one) however in my opinion given the ratio of single engine Ifr work vs multi Ifr work out there (job wise)...Makes more sense to wait and get group 1. Many pc12 and caravan operators also have other a...

School was the best place to get night X country pic. Surprisingly difficult to get in many jobs. Every chance you get to build night xc. Take it till you get the atpl req.

Re: Completing CPL on Multi and building 125 multi hours
Skyquest has some of the best prices I know of and Ron is a good guy and runs a good school However I'm not sure if getting everything done on a multi is a good idea budget wise in comparison to the gain on a resume. Also good luck trying to get pic time at a school on a multi with less than 50 mult...

Re: Career move where to go
I've always heard MPIC time is king. And MPIC turbine even better...but that's just me. I know 705 time is also of great value and an ATR is a good machine to have in the logbook. I have no idea what you want to do long term or what companies are involved in the decision. I have no idea why someone ...

Re: Perimeter aviation vs transwest air? Help
Be careful with perimeter. You can end up working the ground there for a long long time. With the movement in the industry now I would go try northwright or honestly...Go do the road trip. Dont squander the spring. You can go get yourself into a Navajo right seat or be a diver driver etc. There's fl...

Re: North Wright Airways
^yep not too long on the ramp. About $1000 a month I believe. Housing provided (I think it's a bunk bed) Quick upgrades lots of flying. In the winter you get up to 4 weeks off. They push you to the tc limits there but lots of good time to be logged. I hear it's about a year or two for the twin turbi...

Re: Your flight test
Ppl I aced for the most part. Cpl I was nervous and forgot flaps on takeoff. Realized this when I went to retract them and there was nothing to retract. (A mistake I've never made before or since) For my precautionary I chose a long nice field but with a bad crosswind and crabbed my way to a 2/4. Ti...

With regards to the hiring off the ramp. Is that for both ifr (yvr) and vfr?
