Re: Operational Flight Plans & Dispatch Accuracy

As a 705 DXPer the only other thing I would add is MEL discrepancy between pilot/MCC/DXP or adding an MEL which requires a revised OFP (pack inop/apu/etc). Besides that I'd say at the airline that I work at there is a very good pilot/DXPer relationship. In the end, we are both working towards the sa...

Re: TC Dispatch Exams

You will have to check with the specific office that you go to write them at. I have been told by one office that they do not allow you to write 2 in one day and I have heard from fellow dispatchers that they wrote them both in the same day. General rule of thumb, you have to have at least 2 hours o...

Re: FLIGHT DISPATCHER TRAINING...???

If you can get your hands on study material in regards to the SARON and SAMRA that would be a great study resource. My best advice is for the weather exam is get your hands on the air command weather manual. It is laid out nicely and is an easier read than some of the other weather material. I am n...

Re: Porter to Start Service from Toronto to Orlando

As a former employee at Porter, I cannot see how this route will be feasible. Using winter weights they will constantly be bumping passengers. It will be an operational nightmare and under the Canadian law if they bump the passenger they are required to get them to their destination on another carr...

Re: Flight Dispatcher

Great answer by sohanhakuoh I started at Porter as a Gate Controller then Ops Coordinator but with the ultimate goal of ending up in dispatch. Working within the OCC in other roles lets the bosses get an idea of how you work with people. Pass the tests, show them you will work hard and let them know...

Re: Porter Flight Dispatch

As a former employee of Porter I can tell you that they definitely hire from within the company with zero experience. It can be quite the revolving door for dispatchers as it is generally a training ground for other airlines in Canada. Best option is to keep an eye on their website, learn about the ...

Re: fdops, fdmet, flight dispatch, transport canada study gr

Hey, As someone who has been in the dispatch field for roughly 3 years now the best piece of advice that I can give is to tackle each exam separately. I myself, did take a preparation course for the exams and was lucky enough to be prepared to pass them both on the first shot. For the weather side o...

Re: WestJet Dispatch Interview

Hey Slipkeys, I had the interview and the test and was fortunate enough to get on with Westjet in Dxp. I would suggest looking at some of the CARs related to jet aircraft ie landing distances required wet/dry runways, requried hold fuel etc. Review the jepp charts , GFAs, sig wx charts etc. I would ...

WestJet Dispatch Interview

Hello all,

New to the site. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience regarding the Dispatch test for the Flight Dispatcher position with WestJet? I am just wondering where I should focus the majority of my studying, AIM, CFS, WX, Navigation?

Thanks,
