Re: float plane crash> 1 dead , 2 injured. remote logging camp bc
Although, I didn't know the young man directly, we have a few mutual industry friends. One of those mutual friends witnessed the accident. The fellow AME who passed away, was flying into camp for crew change. He was not a forestry worker as the media has reported. The record for these float plane o...

Re: Buffalo airways
Nice try. Let's compare crashes per hour flown or crashes per departure. AC does hundreds of times more flying than Buffalo. By your logic AC should be crashing a plane every couple months. But it's okay as long as nobody dies. In the past 10 years at AC, I can think of one crash (YHZ) a...

Re: Buffalo airways
I’m not here to defend Buffalo but not having a fatal accident since 1970 is more than just luck… I never worked there but I wouldn’t trade my big piston time for anything but I know I am just an old man now shaking my fist at the clouds … I am irrelevant . Thanks for setting me straight . Not unde...

Re: Buffalo airways
Simply not killing or hurting people is a pretty low standard. Well that generally means they aren’t crashing airplanes. I know people think safety is sitting around talking and using acronyms. I think all in all Buffalo has a pretty good safety record and good way for kids to actually learn some s...

Re: Buffalo airways
I’ve never understood the hatred towards Buffalo . Do they have a bad safety record ? Have they had a fatal accident ? I think you stack up fatalities of Northern Operators I think Buffalos record speaks for itself . I don’t know what safety means to the modern pilot but the preservation of life and...

Re: All Survive Crash Of Historic Goose Amphib
Yeah I would assume it’s the PIC responsibility to ensure there are no missing drain plugs but I’ve never flown a Goose .
All my knowledge is second hand so I was hoping someone had more light on the situation.
Strange stuff on the BC Coast .

I see Wilderness Seaplanes posted a job add ? What are the working conditions like up there ?
Is there anybody in the know have an update on how one of their Gooses crashed ?.
Their “ Goose Program “ sounds interesting but it sounds like you should probably bring your own helmet .

Re: All Survive Crash Of Historic Goose Amphib
Any updates on this ? The pilot is being touted as a hero but hard to believe two R-985s can quit without some serious negligence on the part of the pilot . And how was he unable to make the water southbound off the runway in Bella Bella ? This airplane was sank 2 years ago due to a missing drain pl...

Re: P180 job ad: "don't apply"
The pope likes it. I sit and watch the fall out and while I do feel for the furloughed pilots the group that bailed on employers with little or very limited time and experience no so much. They gambled and unfortunately lost and the total irony, none of that group are very marketable because right ...

Re: Terrible news for the Air Canada work force...
This is probably a waste of electrons in this forum, but here goes. A medically-informed response to the virus is the only long term solution, but when implementing it creates economic chaos that’s worse than the virus, the answer is not to condemn some people to die from a preventable illness so t...

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/26/aviation/oshkosh-worlds-largest-water-bomber-airplane-martin-mars/index.html For 3 million you can have an obsolete aircraft with obsolete engines operating in a painfully small market. Any takers? No doubt it's a great airplane with an excellent back story and history...
