If you believe MCAS is uncommanded trim and thus should be cut out anytime it runs how will it remain certified?
I think I'm done here. Enjoy the bigger Boeing's.

Re: 737 Max 8 Simulators
There is nothing stopping the use of the autopilot. In fact, it shuts MCAS off. Using the electric trim switches on the control column turns MCAS off too while in manual flight. I think the idea is to keep things simple by having the same procedure for an MCAS event as a stab trim runaway, which MC...

Re: 737 Max 8 Simulators
Confusedalot, How would an MCAS failure look differently in a simulator compared to a stab trim runaway? What are the differences in the emergency drill? Answer: there is no difference. Just stumbled on this...... You are 100% right, hit the switches and everything gets disabled. One caveat, never ...

Re: C series
Looks like the CSeries, errr A220, is in the Navi magazine now! Any new developments at AC about possible routes? I saw YVR-BOS, Eastern Canada-Europe, and Hawaii mentioned in an older interview article with Ben Smith. Delta might be the first North American airline to operate into LCY. Unless Air ...

Re: Exit Polls Showing Over 90% Strike Mandate Support
Don’t think for a second that AC pilots are not loving WJ pilot turmoil. Remember they had a rumour going around that they would join ALPA too? What happened to that game plan? Must have been more of a playbook than a gameplan. They would love nothing more than to see WJ burn to the ground. It’s th...

Re: 10 year take home pay
This isn't a post to brag, or try and turn this into a who's dick is the biggest. It's solely to give some perspective. A year 10 Air Canada 320 First Officer takes home well over twice what the WJ CAPTAIN does. The AC 320 FO could also use that additional money to buy any kind of retirement hedge. ...

There is a lot of incorrect information on this thread. I would strongly caution anyone taking something they read on avcanada and using it to make real world decisions.

Re: When is AC hiring again?
Any insiders know when AC is going to have an open posting? 30 pilots every month starting mid September. They haven't reopened the position online yet. It's my assumption that hiring at those numbers will deplete the PML in fairly short order. I would expect hiring of off the street candidates to ...

Re: Passenger Rights
I don't see how one long-haul flight can be any more fatiguing than operating 10 legs in a day which is usually A LOT more work intensive, especially the smaller carriers with less automated machines and lenient CARS regs. I agree it shouldn't be a blanket policy, however, fatigue is fatigue is fat...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Looks like 44 new hire positions on the Dec. bid, the Oct. bid had 57 I believe......so is that 101 new hire positions open now? Or is it just 44 new hire positions. Because they have only put approx. 16 through g/s since the Oct bid. You'd take the number they needed on the previous bid, subtract ...

Re: WestJet earns $44.7 million in second quarter
Some will shoot holes in it I'm sure but hey look who is growing around Canada and look who is shrinking and for what reasons! :) Both Air Canada and Porter are projecting growth. Might want to do even the most rudimentary fact check before you post total nonsense. People might start to question th...

Re: Mandatory Retirement Repealed!!!
Do you have even the slightest clue as to how liability works in a case like this? Call it shameless or whatever you like, but there's a zero percent chance that ACPA members are going to have a special assessment and have to pay for this. I think I have a slight clue about how this liability thing...

Re: Mandatory Retirement Repealed!!!
When a "Law" or a "Bill" is passed it has a date attached and the rules change moving forward. True enough, but the change in law also doesn't effect the nearly 200 cases grinding their excruciatingly slow way through the CHRT. They will still be decided on their merits. It would have been foolish ...

Air Canada twice got it's workers legislated back to work under some pretty dubious scenarios this year. Is it impossible that they could get an exemption? I realize that would rain on your told you so party, but could you guys be wrong one more time?

If it was as abysmally one sided as you fly till you die guys think, it would have been solved YEARS ago. Your failure to acknowledge that there's a possibility that things won't proceed exactly as you plan, makes it hard to take anything you say seriously. How many times have you said the end is im...

Re: Starting all over again in Canada
I am presently flying overseas, but am sitting at the bottom of the list with not much movement coming. Because of my distance from Canada, I am somewhat out of touch with Air Canada's hiring specifics. I really want to come home to Canada and am curious regarding: Starting Pay - Is it $37,000 (y1)...

Funny that the judge themselves are federally regulated, yet have a retirement age.
