Re: Updates on one - list.

Again I’ll say I agree it should have been a yes vote the first time again so I don’t get angry responses. I just think it sets a bad precedent for the MEC to go out and go against a voted in result of its members, regardless what the results of the polling were. My understanding of the polling it ...

Re: Updates on one - list.

What i meant by sold off is that westjet will sell it to some other company who will in turn have a CPA with westjet. Similar to The Link(pacific costal)agreement, or the jazz AC agreement. This will take the headache of Encore off WestJet’s plate so they can actually focus on 787 growth and not re...

Re: Updates on one - list.

You are right JBI.. but things have changed and managements boss has changed... ONEX will for sure have Some input now and there is no way they would Want to integrate encore with WestJet. Why you ask..... well because Encore is a asset that can be sold at some point. So keeping it separate now mak...

Re: One list

I understand your and WENs anger. I would be upset too. But to state that 2 weeks of good faith from management after 3+ years of negativity has solidified your loyalties is either extremely naiive or extremely uninformed. Management cares about money/ costs / savings. You are not their considerati...

Re: One list

Here’s the thing about that long post above. The company can put RJ’s at Encore tomorrow. It’s entirely their right as stated in our scope clause. It’s also not up to Encore Pilots to “accept” the aircraft. It would simply happen and you would have to fly them. Just that simple so insinuating that ...

Re: One list

There's a rumour going around Encore that I think is relevant to the continuation, or not, of the One List, so I thought it pertinent to share it here. Everything that follows is rumour, speculation, and hearsay, and I don't claim to speak for management, so take from it what you will. For the last ...

Re: One list

I understand emotions are high, but everyone needs to keep their emotions in check. I would say that support for the one-list has decreased even more since the vote after pilots at WJ have read/seen things Encore pilots are saying and doing. The day of the vote, the WJ MEC was already being pressur...

Re: One list

The real information comes from our peers and general knowledge of the industry. We all know Encore has 60% flow (50% until recently), and that WJ has continued to post for external pilots since 2014. Outside hiring has continued, and will continue. Management has informed us that, for the foreseea...

Re: One list

Maybe rethink a broken system that puts a 10 000 hour B737 ACP at Encore in the first place? That's on the company. For years, they told applicants that the only way into WestJet was through Encore, and now that those experienced pilots are waiting for flow the company is hiring 2000-hour light tur...

Re: One list

Everybody stays as is and going forward make two lists. If Encore is going to start hiring 500 hr instructors who will be more senior than the OTS hire with Jet time and experience at mainline it will not end well. So shouldn't we be doing whatever we can to make Encore desirable for more experienc...

Re: One list

How can there be a one list for two separate companies. ... ...With an LOA agreed to by all parties... Where have you been this whole time? WestJet and Swoop are technically two separate companies, and yet they have not only a common list but common employer status. That's because everyone agreed t...

Re: One list

We appreciate the effort in filing for common employer, and succeeding there would vastly exceed our eldest dreams, but we aren't holding our collective breath on that. It could take years, and still be rejected, leaving us right back where we are now. The only way to mend the divide between Encore ...

Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

Second, if that was such a risk as you assume, then why is SkyWest, Air Wisconsin, Express Jet, and some other US regionals not owned by the airlines they have CPAs with? Conversely, why does Alaska own Horizon? Why does American own Envoy, Piedmont, and PSA? Why does Delta own Endeavor? Why did AC...

Re: WestJet to be Acquired by Onex

You gave yourself the support you were looking for. I said stripping, you said reorganizing. Same thing, just one of them is a management buzz word. But if you really want to do the research just look at the companies they bought and fixed up, they "reorganized" them as you would say, or as I would...

Re: WestJet to be Acquired by Onex

Of course, everything is up in the air at this point, and no one's job is safe, but I don't think there's much point in panicking.

Re: WestJet to be Acquired by Onex

I don't really see the comparison with Air Canada and ACE Holdings. In 2004, AC was in bankruptcy protection, still dealing with the bloat of the merger and the post-9/11 economy, and ACE was set up by AC shareholders to try to salvage anything of value. WestJet today is a profitable, growing compan...

Re: Lots of new routes to the US

We don't have any parked aircraft at all. We are phasing out the 400's for obvious reasons. I don't what to tell you; there are three 737s with Flair liveries parked in Kelowna, and another parked in Calgary. If the reasoning behind cancelling routes to the US was that the leased -800 was being ret...

Re: Lots of new routes to the US

Despite what the PR people said when the US routes were cancelled, and what tbaylx said in the Enerjet thread elsewhere, it doesn't seem like Flair's problem is a lack of aircraft; they have three 737-400s parked in Kelowna, and another in Calgary. They're now cancelling domestic routes on short not...
