Re: AIRSHOW 2015
I bet a guy would soon regret saying something dumb like "20 bucks says you can't make me puke", in rsponse to Dave asking how do you want it. Common misconception. Skill of an aerobatic pilot is in not making the passenger puke. If you fly smoothly and coordinated it should be a pretty flow-...

Re: Availability of Quality Aerobatic Training
Most of the pilots I talk with outside of the aerobatic community aren't interested in acro at all unfortunately. It's really a shame it's not more integrated into aviation and training in Canada. Ha, I cant even get pilots in my neck of the woods interested in precision landing or some formation f...

You seem very dedicated. Did you pursue any show or competition flying yourself?

Re: Recovery from inadvertent inverted flight?
Aerobatic Instructor here: We teach students to "roll out never pull out". You'll lose less altitude that way and avoid risk of going beyond Vne or pulling full deflection beyond Va over-stressing the plane by exceeding G limits when pulling at high speeds. So you as an aerobatic instructor are say...

I think that plane is with another flight school now but doesn't see aerobatics anymore.AirFrame wrote: It was at Montair when they were at Boundary Bay in the big hangar. The 150A was GMAX.

Re: Flight Schools that teach with taildraggers
Tailwheel and tricycle instructor: I notice a large difference in the stick and rudder skill of a tailwheel pilot in comparison to a tricycle gear pilot. The development and popularization of tricycle gear was Cessna's marketing of the Cessna 172 (a nose wheel version of a Cessna 170) as a "Land-O-M...

Re: Availability of Quality Aerobatic Training
We were only in a 150 Aerobat, but that was enough to teach the basics (loop, roll, snap) and then how to put those together to make other things (cuban, reverse cuban, etc). Also good for teaching energy management, as the Aerobat has the kind of blistering vertical penetration that nobody ever pr...

Availability of Quality Aerobatic Training
Have you ever experienced aerobatic flight, if so what was your experience like and what made it good or bad? Did you have difficulty locating either a qualified aircraft or instructor and were you required to travel very far to do so? I have recently accepted the position of President of the BC Aer...

Re: AIRSHOW 2015
I've had the privilege of meeting and conversing many of the pilots of the series Airshow, at the North West Council of Airshows. The producers had the difficult task of balancing the drama and romanticizing the danger for the general public because they need to market to a wider demographic than ju...

Re: Why so little interest in tailwheel flying?
That is a very valid question, because there is so much value to tailwheel training. It's nice to see someone else asking it. The west coast of Canada has done well at making tailwheel training more accessible, I am fortunate enough to be an instructor on one such tailwheel. Students see it every da...
