Re: Full flap landing rquired
My thoughts... The Pros of 40 Flap -Shorter landing distance (at my school we train students for difficult overseas flying on very short runways, so the practice is greatly desired) -Even on our normal runway we prefer to keep our "extra" runway margin as large as possible. -A more predictable landi...

Re: Scenarios for Student Pilots
as cat mentioned, use the opportunity to practice some flying skills. Thank you, that is exactly what I was suggesting. Could you provide some more suggestions then? A lot of those examples I give I ask in pre-flight briefings for their solo flights. I guess I was just saying practice area as an ex...

Scenarios for Student Pilots
Hey everyone! I am a new flight instructor, and have three students who are about half way through their PPLs. I have been trying to think of scenarios/questions to ask them to assess their judgment and fill empty time as we fly to the practice area. Do you have any scenarios or questions that you m...

Aircraft include Cessna 172, Citabria 7GCBC/7ECA, Cessna 182RG, and Seneca 2 Piper.

Re: Starting my Instructors Rating Tomorrow...
My experience instructing has been very rewarding and taught me a great deal about myself as a pilot and generally how someone learns to fly. I have a few points to offer... Thanks very much Gannet! I cannot even express how appreciative of the time you put into your post! I will definitely try to ...

Re: Starting my Instructors Rating Tomorrow...
Hey everyone, thanks for the replies! Start by getting some real flight experience in a commercial operations. Then it'll be easy to teach and relate to students, and giving them some real, applicable to real life. AuxBatOn, unfortunately that is not an option for me at this time. Further, I do not ...

Starting my Instructors Rating Tomorrow...
Hello everyone! I am a student at a flight school in Alberta. I recently completed my CPL, and Group 1 Instrument Rating. Tomorrow I will be starting Instructor ground school. I feel quite passionate about instructing. I want to be an instructor because I want to make a difference in my student's li...

I want to go so bad, but I can't afford to rent a plane for that whole flight. Anyone want to give me a ride?

Michael Fox at Prairie College of Mission Aviation in Three Hills, Alberta is an aerobatic instructor who could probably help you out. He did my commercial flight test; he's a great guy, very relaxed and knowledgeable! The school does all their aerobatics in a Citabria 7ECA.

Re: INRAT TC Exam
Hello!
I just wrote it about a week ago...It really wasn't that bad. If you go over the study reference guide you should be fine. There was a lot of questions on reading PIREPs/SIGMETs/AIRMETs/NOTAMs/METARs/TAFs/GFAs so I'd definitely recommend practicing decoding those.
Good luck!

If you're interested in a mission aviation program, Prairie College of Mission Aviation in Three Hills Alberta (about 1 hour NE of Calgary) offers training in a 7ECA or 7GCBC. They take non-program community students, as well as students for their 2 year mission aviation program. The instructors are...

Paying for Flight Training?
Hey guys, Just wondering, how did you all pay for your flight training? I'm in a sticky situation here... I'll have about 20k after finishing my PPL and before applying for any loans, which of course won't cut it for the rest of school. However, I am already starting CPL ground school, and I've rece...

Re: Knowledge and Application
I definitely think speed could be a factor. I can nail 65 early in final, but once I'm on short final I usually come in too high and pitch down as a decrease power rapidly. At my school we were taught that round out is the transition to cruise flight and flare is the transition into nose high attitu...

Sorry guys I kind of posted a similar topic twice. My internet wasn't working very well (seriously I couldn't even load a webpage) so I didn't think my last topic went through. Totally my bad. Hey guys thank you for replying, again your responses are fantastic! Eggy, I do believe I could do better ...

Hey guys I have another question for you. I've been a little frustrated with my flying lately, I always seem to mess something up, especially while landing. I'm falling behind the other students and to make matters worse I hardly every fly, I've flown once this week because it's been so windy. I jus...

Thanks John!
You know of PSMA Cpn? Did you go there?
Nice to have someone understand the struggle of those switches, it is real.

Wow, I'm blown away by the amount of posts and all the support you all have given me here! I really appreciate the tips and HiFlyChick I must admit your story is pretty funny!
