Re: ics course

so if a guy wanted to fly floats during the summer and work on his AME apprenticeship during the winter, the ICS course might be sufficient, eh?

is there a limit to how long you take to complete your apprenticeship?

as far as the gfa's go, i don't fly in anything 'freezing' besides snow. and sometimes you'll see a gfa forecasting moderate from the surface to say, 14000, 15, 17, 18000' (whatever....high) and go thru and get nothing. other times you'll get shellacked in an area that wasn't forecast to be a proble...

morningstar.

great schedule, pay, pension plan. decent benefits. excellent maintenance. bright future. little slow to upgrade but that's obv. due to good reason. waiting for the boeing is far from a hardship.

i could go on but i'm tearing up.

gns 530 question

re: auto/manual brightness control....

at night the display is too dim on auto. we set it on manual, but everytime we start up again it's back on auto.

any thoughts?

'shitty pay' and 'morningstar' don't go in the same sentence together. its an oxymoron. so do a little homework next time around before you insult a whole company.

i work for an arborist on the side here in ywg. everything from pruning fruit trees to monster removals and lots in between. it's great exercise, extra money and something completely different from flying. i think of it as my workout, as well as my fall back plan in case i ever medical out. there's ...

spitfire flight kitchen in victoria.

we were in there one day when the firecats were going out one after the other...nearly rattled the bacon and eggs right off my plate. there was a shapely waitress, too; but only a close second to the bacon.

mmmm....precious bacon.

there is another shipwreck about halfway between york factory and cape tatnum that is worth a look, nanuk goose camp isn't too much further east along the coast, either. up on cape churchill you can see some research stations...the more southerly one is called nestor 1 and has a little esker strip. ...

i've narrowed it down to the mike. not a ground wire, which was my original thought. i tried twisting the boom around and the other side picks up fine in flight but the front is shot. i asked the clark csr to just send me a new M7A mike but she said no b/c they'd have no way of verifying that my hea...

i'm pretty sure it's my headset b/c it's been in 2 different planes and each time it's been a problem i've used the handheld mic and been 5X5.

the d.clark troubleshooting page makes it look like it's probably a broken wire somewhere in the connector.

clark headset-xmsns barely readable

i've been having poor transmission strength/readablity with a david clark 10.13X in the air but not on the ground.

anyone ever have the same thing/know of a solution? i think it might be a ground wire and cust. svc is only open weekdays so i thought i'd try here before atc has a fit.

yeah that's going to make all the difference in the world.

the boots on the ldg gear struts aren't that great and altho i would imagine it's hard for cessna to come up with some kind of magical solution, this seems more like a cya than a real fix.

anyone else with $.02?

what is the town itself like? is it a bit of a hole or is there a little polish here and there? i bet there's some nice houses along the lake but it would suck if you had to either live in some kind of shack or look at a bunch of shanties all over the place.

so....is it like kenora or churchill?

forget bug spray just try to stink as badly as you can personally stand. never shower...swims in the lake are ok, just no soap. i didn't have running water at my first float job so i perpetually stunk and it worked like a charm. i've also heard that if you eat a lot of citrus (like for a month) soon...

stu: apparently the dc3 lost an engine in the overshoot out of shamattawa and tried to go back to gillam on one. it's pointing pretty much straight at gillam and as you can see it's fairly intact. and as far as i understand everyone walked away.
