Now that all approach plates are in electronic format, can you use the Foreflight hold advisor for the IFR renewal?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4GCmqCiXLA&t=16s
I must say it works like a charm in a simulator.
Any thought/constructive comment?
Thank You

Re: Help with my upcoming INRAT exam
....Wondering what kind of trick questions regarding PSR and SSR. It should be a straight forward that PSR will only bounce signals without identification and altitude and required no on-board equipment (a transponder) in the aircraft while SSR requires a transponder and can identify aircrafts, spee...

Re: 50 Reasons to find a new student
***Disclaimer: this reply is a rebuke to the previous post**** 5) Don't bother with students who want to "combine their training with their busy schedule". Some of us have to forfeit our precious golf games and work hard to pay for the flight training since quiting one's day job is a risky move. Amo...

Re: Flight Test Matrix marking
Is there a standardization by TC for this flight test matrix/scale? I feel like all these checkrides are very subjective on the marking and vary from one examiner to the next. For example: I received 2 on my steep turn during my multi engine checkride although I adhered to the standard (smooth, coor...

Group 3 IFR to Group 1 IFR conversion
Folks,
I am just curious about the process. Perhaps someone who had already done it recently within the last 3 years can share his/her experience such as how was the exam like, where you did it, did you do it during the 2 year renewal, etc.?
Thank You

Re: IPC
Out of curiosity, how did the examiner "fail" the autopilot? What were the supposedly corrective actions? Thank You When I did mine it was the same routing as my initial ride in Airplane. Ground brief was pretty standard comprehensive IFR ground brief. We were allowed to use the autopilot for the IP...

Re: Ratings in what order?
Agree there theoretically. So, let's say one is being tested on the partial panel on PA34 with the standard 6 pack+HSI+ GNS430. If the flight examiner covers the HSI and the AI and one has to rely solely on the compass and the turn coordinator, can one "looks" at the GNS430 TRK and BRG? ...or will t...

Re: Ratings in what order?
Out of curiosity, how will instructors include these 2 items during the flight test? I haven't see anything on the regular publication. https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/publications/tp9939-renewal-4886.htm It will be very cruel to fail the engine and do that unusual attitude recovery all at th...

Has anyone done this kind of training path? I mean you do all your training such as CPL, MIFR, ATPL, etc. in the states then convert to the Canadian licenses/ratings. Perhaps some folks can provide some sort of feedback (dos/don'ts, why/Why not, cost benefit analysis, etc.). I can work/study/live in...

Folks, we seem to establish the general consensus (see the attached).
So, back to the original poster, where will be the best place for Multi/IFR that is NOT Cornwall??
You can PM me. Thank You

Re: Best place for Multi/IFR that is NOT Cornwall??
I am curious on how they teach a RNAV approach especially LNAV. Off course with LPV/WAAS or ILS, you have the glide slope and an auto-pilot, so no worry there. See my attached file for RNAV RWY 10 for example. I heard instructors there wanted students to descent from whatever the top of descent (TOD...

Re: Best place for multi IFR training??
Sometime those GNS430 knobs can be very sensitive and I have fat fingers. Can you not import the flight plan from your SD card? I mean there are not that many waypoints to CYOW or CYMX to load for 30 minutes, or did I miss something here? It takes 15 seconds to create a flight plan and save it to a ...

Re: Is this the new norm?
I guess the general consensus here is the group 1 realistically can be completed within 3 weeks give and take. I am not sure what kind of FTU operations out there but I need to find a FTU who can provide me a consistent training preferably not more than 2 instructors and can adhere to the 3 week gui...

Re: Is this the new norm?
As to the 152 idea by CWE; I don,t think he understood the original discussion was about instrument training when he suggested using it for a ppl. I have no idea about specific aircraft requiring certification for IFR, but I did believe that certain nav/comm requirements had to be met as well as pi...
