Looking for Qikiqtarjuaq weather advice from locals
We are in Iqaluit and possibly looking to go to Qikiqtarjuaq today to leave for Greenland tomorrow. Looking at Windy, there is clag in the Davis Strait in the morning. How likely is this to hang around all day, locking us into Qikiqtarjuaq and how likely is it to burn off? No facetious comment pleas...

IFR clearance on the ground at Qikiqtarjuaq?
Sorry, I posted this in bush flying, but it looks like it may be more appropriate here: Planning a flight to Europe in my 185 from the US. How can we pick up an IFR clearance if we are on the ground at Qikiqtarjuaq? Is it possible to do it by satphone or do we need to use HF? Thanks in advance, David

Thanks. Carry a Delorme Inreach and satphone with a satphone aerial on the aircraft and a PLB on every person in the aircraft. Also an HF, though don't know how useful that would be.
Got any good weather sites for up there?

Advice on route across Northern Canada in late July
Hi all, I need to get from Alaska to Oshkosh, leaving Alaska about 17/18 July, in my C185 with Flint tip tanks and about 1200NM range. What is my likelihood of getting stuck for bad weather for days and days and days at that time of year, bearing in mind options are few in that area and you need to ...

Re: FAA DPE in Canada for instrument rating?
Thanks. I suspect you are right.
The big question for me will be whether as a foreigner I would need an M1 visa to take a checkride in the US or whether the checkride doesn't count as training and so I don't need it.

FAA DPE in Canada for instrument rating?
Hi,
Does anyone know if there are any FAA Designated Pilot Examiners on Canada who can conduct an FAA instrument checkride?
Thanks,
David

Beaver / Norseman Questions
Hi all, I'm new here, but a Super Cub owner, originally from the UK, now living in Australia. I have a couple of questions about the Beaver's and the Norseman's performance on wheels . Can anyone give me a typical cruise speed and fuel burn for each, moderately loaded? How do the handling characteri...
