Re: Coulson C-130 missing NSW
My connection to this tragedy is 4 fold. 1. I used to fly for a provincial fire fighting operation. And have lost friends in this business. 2. I have had several friends worked for Coulson's family for years. 3. I spent a year in Australia and have many fond memories of the place and friends that l...

Re: Choosing not to fly -- After a crisis.
During a very difficult period in our lives as a family I was called at home by my wife who was trying to get a hold of our son. <snip> And thank you too, sir/ma'am, for sharing. Thank you I share this story often, as it is good to say the words. It helps me to put this part of my life into perspec...

Re: Choosing not to fly -- After a crisis.
During a very difficult period in our lives as a family I was called at home by my wife who was trying to get a hold of our son. We had been around the patch with him since his teenage years and he was on the back side of rehab that didn't take and we were worried beyond belief. On top of that were ...

Does anyone know what a typical monthly pairing schedule looks like on the 57?
And what would the commute be like from the west coast?
Whats the min block for the month?
Cheers

This doesn't really explain to me how such a regulation would "hamper" operations. It would force operators to have efficient communications, and drive the shit operators (who can't even afford a sat phone) out of business. If you can't afford a good communications system, you should not be carryin...

Widow [/quote]responsible ops who are already safety concious are not the problem ... it is the irresponsible operators who do not operate safely that are causing the problems. SMS won't make a scrap of difference if TC backs off still more on their oversight. And you know what, I am becoming a bit ...

When I worked at HA a peer of mine had the peasure of flying David Suzuki to Vancouver. He rode up front with my friend and said that flying that route makes a smaller enviromental footprint than driving and/or taking a Ferry from Vancouver Island to the main land. These people on Toronto island are...
