I doubt Westjet Management will come willingly to the table with more money. This strike has trampled their pride. WJ AME's hang in there!

Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

Some of the incidents related to Perimeter and Bearskin can be researched via the TSB / T.C. websites. Here are a few that I know of. End of 2016 or early 2017 right around the time Perimeter / T.C. grounded their fleet due to poor maintenance practices, two Metro two's were written off and one addi...

Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

Considering how many Metro's Perimeter / Bearskin has written off lately, I would say they are in the same boat as Skycare or worse. The Metro is job security for a Structures AME! You can't walk around one of these aircraft without finding fuel leaks and cracks!!

It won't be a problem for Porter to find additional Q400's. Last I heard there were over a 100 of them parked.

Re: Perimeter/Bearskin hiring so many departments

Of the 6 Dash Eights bought, how many are in service? Perimeter doesn't have the Crews or Maintenance to operate the aircraft they currently have. I was talking to a Buddy of mine who said Perimeter in 2022 had more then 400 resignations! This is a company with approximately 800 employees. I do beli...

Re: AME shortage?

I don't think Covid effected the AME / Maintenance Departments like the Pilot side. Unfortunately there is still a shortage of experienced AME's. Added to this the exodus of AME's moving to other fields of work and retirement. This shortage of experienced AME's is going to be a challenge in the near...

Re: Engineering layoffs

A lot of Airlines will park the aircraft and defer heavy checks not due to lack of foresight but due to survival. With the uncertainty in the industry they will be trying to reduce cash flow anyway possible.

I can't see a 50 seat -400 being successful due to the purchase / operating costs compared to an ATR.
