Re: GA Lemo or Airbus Plug
LEMO headset plug supports stereo, mic, power. XLR is mono, mic, power. Adapters are available between all. I'd say LEMO along with dual GA and XLR adapters as required.... Though, depends on airplanes you'll be flying - if no prospect of stereo music from the airplane, then I guess it doesn't matte...

Re: Rottnest Island Cessna Caravan Seaplane Crash
So, as an ex-float pilot with a whole 35 hours of float experience. Why, oh why, would the pilot try and and drag it off like that? Am I correct in seeing that as soon as they got out ground effect they stalled and flopped over? I'm with the OP on the value of this video. There is another video of ...

Re: Low time hiring slowdown
How many companies have you visited in person? It's old school, but for small companies it makes a huge difference. Even bigger ones might appreciate meeting you. Genuine question, how does one go about visiting operators in person? Is it considered acceptable walking in at any time during working ...

Re: Ipad Mini 8.3in or Ipad Air/Pro 11in
My work one is also a 6th gen mini, it's great. Note that for a new purchase today, you'd want the 7th gen mini if going for a mini - same form factor, updated processor, more base memory, which is important on cycle changes, depending on the charts you're syncing. (advise not getting base 64 GB mod...

Re: Low time hiring slowdown
One other thing that's been posted many times before, but bears repeating here for the low-timers.... Showing up and shaking hands matters. There's very little to differentiate a 250 hr CV from another, and pretty much all employers get inundated by these. Showing up to speak to the CP or OPS manage...

Get what fits best in the cockpits of the airplanes you'll be flying.
Bigger is better if you have the space for it. I've found that a mini works best in most smaller aircraft though....

Generally, yes. There's a lot of seasonal work out there. Most (but not all) hiring in the 702/703 world is leading into spring/summer.

Interesting. Non-AC here, I've only ever seen actual numbers on the upgrade list on iPhone/iPad. Currently on AC App V5.49.0. Logged in with Aeroplan 50k. Confirmed I can see numbers for J only, looking at upgrade list. As suggested earlier, perhaps there's some logic in the system flagging an empl...

Re: First Job / Type Rating / Low hours
What is "dual command"? With instructor Ah. I thought there was only 1 in Pilot in Command at a given time. But yes. There's no real shortage of entry level jobs, and no shortage of entry level pilots, either. Worth noting that when applying somewhere, it's a CPL you'll hold. The "frozen" ATPL bit ...

From TSB.... C-GCKV, a Thrush Aircraft S2R-H80 operated by Fly'N Dutchman Ag Ltd., was conducting aerial application operations 5.7 nm southwest of Melfort/Miller Field (CJZ3), SK. On an application leg, the aircraft gained altitude to avoid a power line. After clearing the power line, the pilot in...

Re: Canadian Survey Plane Accident Albany, NY
Confirmation bias. Doesn’t mean that you won’t turn out to be right, although I wouldn’t be surprised if the Actual Evidence leads to a conclusion that there is not enough evidence to come to a conclusion. It would be entertaining if it turned out that there was no autopilot on board but perhaps mo...

Re: Canadian Survey Plane Accident Albany, NY
Many moons ago when I flew a PA31-350, I did a maint flight where an avionics tech attempted to fix the autopilot. With it engaged, it started oscillating in pitch, in increasing severity. It got to the point where it was going from 20-30 degrees nose up to same nose down. It doesn't explain the ba...

Re: FAA STC vs TCCA STC???
Check with the avionics shop that'll be installing and signing it off.... You should be good though, there's a bilateral agreement about accepting STCs, as well as a staff instruction for TCCA. As for the small list of aircraft on a TCCA STC, it's likely that those types have TCCA type certificates,...

Re: First Pilot job 2024 Fresh CPL
Jobs have always existed for low time folks... moreso now than for a very long time. As others have said, apply to postings, but more importantly, do the road trip. Show up and shake hands - after researching the folks you're looking for a job with. That matters, a lot. Especially for the operators ...

Re: Cheapest possible IFR approach at airport
One other note here that's getting to be more relevant for light GA aircraft, is TAWS / FLTA included and configured in modern (frequently Garmin) GA avionics equipment. Depending on how it's configured in the aircraft (and light GA aircraft won't require these systems or require them to be tied to ...

Re: Seeking advice on pilot application in Canada
Also, there's a LOT of aviation in Canada, most of it outside of the big cities. Look up some operators, show up, and shake hands.... Emailed CV w personalized cover letter is fine too, with respectful follow-up by phone (unless they explicitly say not to). Unless they explicitly say not to, many of...

The public report says it rebounded 8m from point of contact.... If true, that's a lot of energy given the aircraft size/weight. Could be much more significant structural damage than just the rudder / vertical stab.
