Re: when have you used 1000ft on top?
(f) the aircraft will operate within Class B airspace at or below 12 500 ft ASL, Class C, D, or E airspace. Genuine question, where would you be in Class B airspace below 12 500 ft ASL? Sounds like a weird clause to add in there. While one does not exist (as far as I know), the DAH could technicall...

Technically, a medical doesn’t expire. It validates a licence for a period of time following date of last examination.

Re: Poorly Flown Approaches
Here’s a similar one I came across: A Morningstar Air Express Inc. Boeing 757-2B7 (C-FMHA/MAL7080) from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Vancouver, BC (CYVR) was cleared for Runway 08L on the area navigation (RNAV) Z approach. MAL7080 descended to 1300' below the glide path. The last assigned altitude was 200...

Re: Ifr Bootcamp type training.
First post here. I am looking for a bootcamp type immersion IFR training facility in canada that would allow me to use my own plane for the training. I don’t care really where it is. Ps Tried to post this before but it was rejected by the censors. Maybe they can explain to me why? What airplane do ...

Abbreviations is the umbrella term for acronyms (which you defined correctly) and initialisms (which you call abbreviations).

Morningstar doesn't have have 757 pilots based at YVR, only Caravans.
Other smaller 705s at YVR:
CMA Dash 8
PASCO Saab
Flightcraft Convair
Summit Dash 8

Re: HIMS and mental health in Canadian aviation
Hi all, I’m hoping you can help me to learn about something within the Canadian aviation infrastructure. Shortly I will be having two hosts from an American aviation podcast, the pilots pandemic, on my show. We are going to be discussing mental health and potentially addiction as it fits within Can...

You know your financial situation better than I do, but personally I'd lean towards sticking it out.
In the meantime, however, hit the books best you can so you can hit the ground running when you can commit yourself full time.

Re: Trying to get back flying
VORs and NDBs are slowly being decommissioned all across the country, so their associated A, B, V, J routes/ways are disappearing, too. L, T, and Q you see now are fixed RNAV routes.
Have fun, exciting to get back into flying. At the end of the day the CDI is still a CDI!

There's been a decent amount of recent work on this by the feds, check out this site: https://www.canada.ca/en/ombudsman-national-defence-forces/education-information/caf-members/reservist-information/leave-reservists.html In fact, employers can receive compensation from the feds to offset the costs...

Also in order to sit the SAMRA, SARON and INRAT exams, apart from having the valid CLASS 1 medical, do I have to first show my experience to Transport Canada officials in the form of Logbook or maybe a verification letter from the issuing authority? Thank you? Or I can just book the exam and sit th...

Re: 300 nm CPL cross country
The dual portion includes that, I think, to help define dual flight. Up a couple lines we see this, emphasis mine on flight time vs flight training time: (i) have completed, subject to paragraph (b), a minimum of 200 hours flight time in aeroplanes, of which a minimum of 100 hours shall be pilot-in-...

All are excellent options. Do your best to try them on or even borrow from somebody to use for a few days.
Not only comfort but performance, too, will depend on you.
Try then buy!

Re: class 1 vs class 3 medical
Yes, but if I may say -- You have a category 1 medical, exam was on X date. It never turns into a category 3, never becomes "valid for" category 3, never any other way of saying the same thing. You can exercise CPL and PPL privileges for 1 year (or 6 months) from X date, followed by only PPL privile...

Great for the Vancouver Island runs like goldeneagle described. Stretching its legs to the interior though I wonder what impact running anti-ice systems will have on range. The artists renderings obviously aren't a fantastic source, but a heated wing could use up a lot of energy -- although I'm no e...

If you are converting a Canadian ATP to FAA a practical test is not required. Here is a good write up on the process https://www.google.ca/amp/s/skiesmag.com/news/transport-canada-faa-convert-canadian-atpl-faa-atp-certificate/%3famp The only difference J that I saw that we had discussed was the DPE...

Re: Thread For Incidents Involving Gear Malfunctions
I found this one interesting. Normal gear extension jammed the rudder pedal. Using the alternate system seemed to resolve the control issue. I didn't expect that. I wonder why..... On the Comanche you can probably achieve more force on the landing gear with the telescoping manual extension lever th...

Will it be on the page where it shows my Class 2, CPL, and MIFR? Hope that makes sense. If you click your licence, the page tha...

For your information I am in the process with a lawyer; for the new NIW that is applicable to pilots. At the moment it takes up to 18 months to complete the entire process (including a medical exam) then you get the green card. No need a job offer but a FAA ATP and extensive flying experience on je...
