Re: Is this the first AIP to not be in the benefit of the company?
pilot pay is based on company earnings not negotiations? By that logic you are saying Canadian carriers should keep pay lower until they become as profitable? A bit of both actually. The wage ceiling is the forward earnings per pilot. The floor is the wage rate that your competitors are paying and ...

Re: Is this the first AIP to not be in the benefit of the company?
The reason the US carriers have higher pay is they one up each other on each contract. Much more difficult to raise the bar when it is AC alone doing the lifting. huh? Like the cargo MOA, the loss of pension in 2013, etc. Actually the reason that the pay is higher in the US is because the earnings ...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
There is an additional restriction … It’s the MPU x number of years of service OR 2% x number of years x your best five years. Whichever is lower. For example, with 30 years in, if your average yearly salary during your best five years was $200,000, then your pension would be $120,000. If it was $3...

Re: Flow through to AC
If you are hell bent on AC I wouldn’t quit Jazz to go to a competitor of AC to try and get in quicker. The first thing they will probably ask as is why you quit the “team” only to want to come back. Air Canada will probably see you quitting Jazz as a huge disrespect. The only solution is to reserve...

Re: Parlez vous le 'spy talk'?
francophones living in english provinces have to speak english to get around, not the even remotely the same. And yeah I don't care at all about Rousseau and all those anglophones in mtl, but I hate quebec bashing like the redneck's comment that prompted my reply. And bill 21 rocks btw. You see wha...

Re: Transat revenues drop by 99%, with 2,000 layoffs expected
This deal won’t happen. And no, AC will never be as efficient as transat on leisure with their aircraft configuration in mainline. But that doesn’t mean they need transat either. As for transat, they were on track for one of their best years in 2020 before the pandemic hit. Fleet was a big problem ...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
LittleNelly, I thought we were having a discussion. You just twisted my words and you know it. Is there a point continuing if that the way it goes? Cheers. I neither twisted words nor took anything out of context. I simply quoted your entire statement admitting that this deal will in fact lead to j...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
The topic of operational redundancy in many support departments has been discussed here ad nasuem and is still an unknown with the "Brand Maintenance" agenda, but common sense predicts cuts. Probably still better than being run into the ground by some third party. Most of this conversation is pilot...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
Talking pre-pandemic here, I have no way of believing that a strategic long-term reduction of capacity is in any company's business plan when the products are profitable. Let's look a couple of years down the road, as it would be comparable to pre-pandemic. TS had high loads for Transatlantic flyin...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
Secondly, and most importantly, you're forgetting that the TS brand comes with not just the pilots, but ALSO the aircraft and the capacity. We also had a shortage of around 100 (15%) before the pandemic. So, the TS pilots wouldn't be condensing into your current capacity, but rather just staying wh...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
The Transat side really needs to pick a stream here. One moment they are arguing that their jobs need to be saved. Yet immediately after argue that there is no way Transat is going anywhere, they won’t be allowed to fail( is the likely outcome) Keeping them separate= more jobs between two companies....

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
It really is amazing the Transat people who expect Air Canada people to give up their positions/jobs and are surprised that they are not happy about it. It is very clear that a combination means less jobs, what is so hard to understand about that. Don’t expect Air Canada employees to be happy to sha...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
If air canada is using Transat to get government aid, why would Transat not just continue independently in all its wonderful glory if said aid materializes? Why is the current board so desperate to sell? Is it that Transat was always a house of cards waiting to crumble. If Transat is so structurally...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
Good, then let this be Quebec’s problem. As for Air Canada they, nor the rest of the country, care about the influence of the premier of Quebec. Why not just go with Peladeau’s offer then? It’s quebec-centric and the premier says he won’t let anything bad happen to Transat so there is no risk. AC i...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
AC pilots on here: You TRZ guys should end up in the streets, no job, no revenue, so that eventually you get hired BOTL at 1st year pay, while my seniority remains untouched, because 10 positions in a seniority list is more important than you having a job. How sweet of them. Or selfish. It’s not ab...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
There is definitely a lack of basic math being done here. What is so hard to understand that this deal eliminates almost all flying and thus positions at transat. Air Canadas plan has been revealed and it appears to be al,ost entirely shutting transats own flight operations, it’s right in the agree...

Re: AC/TRZ Transaction Approved by TC - $5 per Share
This talk from the transat side is borderline delusional. No it is not good for any employee group and no not everyone will have jobs. If the air transat flight ops department even survives this it will be considerably smaller. Just look at all your now defunct air transat routes Montreal – Basel ...
