Re: Why does this approach have higher LNAV/VNAV minimums than just LNAV?

Well, said airline has been slowly upgrading their fleet. Most of the airplanes from my understanding are now equipped but not everyone is trained to fly them yet. GPS certification costs a lot of money for flight crews mid PPC cycle. My guess is within a year they will be all certified once everyon...

Re: Bearskin interview

That's still kinda ouch. Working 90 hours a month and still not even cracking 40k. Although I guess at that point hours are what most people working there are after.

Re: Why does this approach have higher LNAV/VNAV minimums than just LNAV?

What are the detailed economic benefits to an airline of spending on LPV equipment? And the safety improvements are...? How many approaches are missed or flights canceled due to inadequate approach minimums at revenue destinations that have LPV approaches? On how many of those occasions would LPV h...

Excellent advise, not a misguided rant.

You don't need 100 night PIC? It's 100 night of which 25 must be night XC PIC. 75 of it can be in the right seat.

Re: NIGHT TIME

I've preached this before. Just another of my misguided rants: If you're between you PPL and CPL, you have to build time. DO IT AT NIGHT! You have to do a 300? mile cross country. DO IT AT NIGHT!! You have to build time. Make your 300 mile cross country 1500 plus miles! I took a 150 to the Bahamas ...

Re: Why does this approach have higher LNAV/VNAV minimums than just LNAV?

I always thought that it was simply due to the fact that a DA makes allowance for a slight dip below that altitude when commencing a missed approach whereas an MDA does not need to make any such allowance. But then I have never encountered an approach with a difference as large as the OP's example....

Re: Why does this approach have higher LNAV/VNAV minimums than just LNAV?

Airlines do not use the "chop and drop" method anymore and must use constant descent angle procedures without leveling out at MDA. Are we talking only Airlines? Or legally speaking? Because you most definitely CAN level off at the MDA if you like and past the FAF you're good down to whatever the MD...

More than most 703 Captains make so there's that... Just wouldn't want to take a pay cut coming from medevac or 704 left seat gigs. Would be tough..

My understanding is that interviews and GS are on the slow side right now until the bid is finalized.

Re: Winter Bid released today.

Will we potentially see some new hires (say within the last 6 months) bid onto new aircraft with this bid? Newer CRJ FO's being bumped to other aircraft? Where will all the RJ Captains go from YYZ if YYC and YVR Q and -8 Captains with much higher seniority bid onto the RJ? The lowest RJ Captain in Y...

Hey OutFlying, do you have a pilots license? Or do you just go off of whatever daddy tells you. Hows that ATC application going these days?

Leave the flying to the pilots.

Some people don't feel like sharing some info publicly. Nothing wrong with that. Personally I agree, and also would never put my personal information in the Hire Me section including the names and phone numbers of my references.

Re: Hiring mins for 2017?

Encore's minimum is 1500 hours. Although right now they are currently hiring people in the 3000 hours range.... They are hiring 1500-1700 hours pilots right now. That could be, I have coffee with some WJA pilots, and my dad is a pilot there (for 18 years now) and that's what they are telling me.......
