Re: Pacific Coastal - flight instructors aren't real pilots

Nice to see that nothing has changed. I was a flight instructor who worked for PASCO in the bad old days. Not first job after instructing, hell no. I would have never made it. I was told in no uncertain terms that my flight instructing experience was worse than nothing, and my time up north only ju...

Re: Pacific Coastal - flight instructors aren't real pilots

haha, pasco dropped their time from 750 to 500hrs? But they pay so well! (40k/year, 50k only after first year/1000TT). I did an interview with them, never heard back anything after providing all the documentation this summer. All for the best, since I got a much better offer in the end. Congrats! I...

Anyone out there get a call recently? Wondering how long it is these days from submitting an application to having your phone ring.

Re: Pacific Coastal

It's terrible, I hope they burn in hell. 50k for living in Vancouver + 31k training bond, jeez. Ouch, you hope they burn in hell for a standard 1 year bond and what is a pretty competitive wage? I'm no fan of bonds or low pay for any of us, but you sound a little hurt there... Jazz FO's making 10k ...

Re: How to Move Forward

I can definitely understand how some people's experience would be this way. But it by no means is the norm, there are many 703 companies out there that have great owners/bosses and treat their pilots well. I for one worked at a great 703 and enjoyed my time there. The flying was challenging and the...

What are the Dash 8 upgrade opportunities like these days? Do they want previous 2 crew PIC experience or focus more on your performance as an FO? :prayer:

Re: Red Deer Student Lost

Since the English proficiency test is gone, shouldn't TC and NavCanada be putting more pressure on the CFIs or schools to ensure students are capable? The language proficiency test isn't gone. The mechanism for getting one is changed as of June 1, but the requirement is still there. However, it's o...

Re: Tecnam crash Calgary

Years ago, during my flight training, I did a manoeuvre, not unlike the above post, and didn’t like the way the aircraft felt. I overshot and returned, landed and went immediately to my instructor and explained my experience. He smiled, and both of us went up to the training area at 3000 ft to recr...
