Re: Dash 8 Down

From the third camera angle you can see a trail of smoke from the aircraft before it hits the ground.

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

Thanks for the further explanation. I read the report as the pilots having used the two STAB TRIM cutout switches on the center control pedestal and then having 2 more steps to go through.

https://www.businessinsider.com/lion-air-737-max-pilots-unaware-of-3-key-steps-to-avert-crash-report-2019-3 I guess the question is whether the pilots were trained to deal with the situation. I suspect not. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Pilots in the Lion Air 7...

Re: 737 max

What are the implications of pilots remaining current on type with a long grounding. Let's say is 8 weeks, does that mean even if the aircraft is cleared the pilots need some sim time, etc. before they are allowed back in the air?

Re: 2 Air Transat pilots charged with being impaired

Since airlines are federally regulated, the Federal Labour Code applies. In 2016 The Supreme Court ruled Federally regulated employees can not be dismissed without cause. https://www.stikeman.com/en-ca/kh/canadian-employment-labour-pension-law/supreme-court-restores-norm-no-termination-without-caus...

Re: 2 Air Transat pilots charged with being impaired

"They were also accused of acting in a threatening manner and fighting at the Hilton Hotel in the city on the same day." Not really impressed with Transat on this, and I'm sure most people aren't. I guess they're happy to let this dent their reputation rather than risk an unfair dismissal lawsuit. ...

Re: Air Canada abort, then later on an emergency landing

I highly doubt that the Captain "forgot to turn on a computer" and the article seems to indicate that it was an error programming the CDU.....although it is odd to me that you figure that out after starting the takeoff roll.

Re: Air Canada's New Livery

The livery "evokes Canada's natural wonders and warm and welcoming personality" So, we picked black.... Black, like the majestic oil sands of Alberta. Black, like the fresh paved asphalt on the 401. Black, like the leathery tail of the noble beaver. And, black, like the vulcanize rubber of the puck...

I have two kids in University and will be paying $80,000 each for their four year undergrad science degrees. Who know if they will get jobs so the investment doesn't sound so out of line.

Re: Is this the right approach to flight training ?

One thing I encountered, and which you may encounter too: people with flight sim backgrounds tend to spend too much time looking at instruments and not enough time looking outside when they first get in the left seat of a real plane. Don't be surprised if your instructor reaches over and sticks pos...
