Re: Layoffs
I'm betting on the "cheap" folks doing better than the YOLO crowd. While under traditional economic circumstances, you would be undoubtedly correct. However, current cost of living in our Canadian cities after essentially selling out the middle class has created different circumstances. The a...

Re: Hiring outlook
What's the flow speed now ? Still 3 years and 1 month for a brand new FO ? I think the 5+ years flow is more realistic. 80 pilots flowed in 2017. I believe it was less in 2018. It will likely be the same or less in 2019. I would go with 70 pilots per year.....equals well over 5 years. As the previo...

I doubt the ad will be down long, they did the same thing a few months ago and the ad was up again in a month.

I was you years ago; econ in Toronto and all of that. Finished the degree, but didn't want to work in the field since it wasn't my cup of tea and flying was always my thing. Reflect on what you really want to do in life (sounds like you want to fly), finish your degree, and if you want to fly get st...

What happens to the FO in this case? I would imagine he hasn't flown since and will probably be retrained, if he has not already been done so?

Re: Advice on where to start?
Depending on how old you are and if you already have a degree, I would not recommend going to one of the "pilot" schools such as Seneca, Sault, etc... and just get your licenses done at a local flying club as quickly as possible. After that get an instructor rating and instruct for a while and apply...

But how is that relevant? The moment your mortgage gets approved, the bank uses the current 500k value of your house. One year later, the house is only worth 250k. How does that @#$! up your life? The bank already approved the mortgage, and your income and payments didn't change. What's the catch? ...

Mississauga is nice if you don't mind hearing aircraft movement overhead on your time off. Quick drive to and from YYZ at low times, 15-20 mins.
