Re: PPRuNe
I reiterate, no half-decent law firm would release a statement that they couldn't back up with other documentation. For example, statements as to policies would be checked against the precise wording of the actual policies. Statements about what took place in disciplinary cases would be cross-check...
Re: PPRuNe
"If true"? That statement was written by a team of lawyers on behalf of a major corporation. You can safely assume that every single statement was vetted to the nth degree and checked for accuracy and verifiability. It still leaves room for opinion on how a specific event unfolded. The employment f...
Re: PPRuNe
If true not exactly a stellar employee. Begs the question though. If she was that bad, why was she still employed? I think the gross insubordination section raises a red flag about possible spin within the submission. It took a total of four months (two months after the promised/agreed to) time line...

Re: No Clear Winner in FCA Mandatory Retirement Decision
Stay tuned. The Supreme Court of Canada is now deciding the Leave to Appeal application. Stay tuned. My financial advisor is reevaluating my ability to retire at 60. Looks like widebody captain has been put off until 58-59 ish. My pension reduction hit is accordingly. I'm far from alone. Crap there...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
I wouldn't call it a race to the bottom. I would call it full circle or perhaps return to where we started. I was hired at Air BC in 1989 as a -8 FO. I made just under $1500/ month to start. 18K/year. Even with inflation that is less than 30k/year in today's dollars. At the time my wife made $12/hou...

Re: Encore WACON released and surprise, it sucks
Um? When you let the market determine wages and working conditions it will be low. The WJ pilots and ACPA both made the same mistake. A missed opportunity to set minimum standards and avoid what happened in the US.

Re: AC arbitrated agreement
Fanblade, Before the arbitrator's decision, you were fairly confident that the Company's final offer would not differ significantly from TA1 (due to receeding horizons?) While the size of aircraft(76 and below) that can be subcontracted didn't change, the number of these airframes and ratio certain...

Re: ACPA off to arbitration
Rudder,
Go back and read the CUPE arbitration again. The jurisprudence applies both ways. Any party deviates from TA1 and they risk loosing.
The only exception are items both sides have mutually agreed are unacceptable within TA1 or items settled outside FOS.
Scope is in neither camp

Re: ACPA off to arbitration
No one will have specific information. This is FOS. Either side would be nuts to let the other see their cards. What i can say is i heard the same today. Arbitrators will not stray from the jurisprudence. The jurisprudence for interest based arbitration, for which FOS is, is to impose a MOA if one e...

Re: ACPA off to arbitration
This is a game of horse shoes. Closest to TA1 wins. If someone throws TA1 on the table the arb is done. It is simply the jurisprudence and there really is no other logical outcome since binding arbitration was imposed on the parties. Because this is FOS the further ACPA strays in one direction from...

Re: E-Jets at air canada
Leading edge, Not sure what numbers your looking at but if I recall correctly Q4 was a net loss of 80 something million on a 100 something FOREX gain. The corporation had a near death experience in 2009. That was only solved by postponing the problem until 2014. As for shareholders? What value? Cred...

Re: E-Jets at air canada
Rudder, With the exception of last fall AC has been very consistent wrt what AC wants from ACPA. From TA1 to the latest conditions to return to negotiations. It should be public by now. Look south of the boarder. I am sure reducing the AC employee footprint is part of the future. Due to successor ri...

Re: E-Jets at air canada
Leading Edge,
No it is not pilot salaries that are the issue at AC.
I suggest you look up AMRs chapter 11 filing and why the court approved the filing with 4 billion in the bank. After that re read CR letter to employees about AMRs filing

Re: E-Jets at air canada
Rudder, Nothing in the pilot FOS will fix enough of the underlying fundamental problems. More over, based on the last offer they are not even trying to reduce the employee foot print to any extent beyond what is happening at US carriers. JMO. Calin gave up when he lost the CAW pension arbitration. S...

Re: E-Jets at air canada
Rudder, Your a smart guy. Nothing has been fixed. CR tried to negotiate though the problems. Then tried to arbitrate. He failed to get the results he needed. There is one option left. CCAA ala AMR. Provide your own DIP. Think about it. The previos CCAA over hang gone Pension delt with now. Stock is ...

Re: E-Jets at air canada
The metrics for the 175 have always been marginal at AC. They were a result of arbitration with Jazz. As a result of fuel price the Q400 kills just about everything around 70-80 seats and under an hour. I expect to see more Q400s and 705's at the regionals. The 175/crj100/200 disappear It looks like...

My guess. Pending the outcome of the commissioner’s application to bring the matter before the Competition Tribunal, the airlines said they would be suspending the joint venture. http://www.cbc.ca/fp/story/2011/06/27/5012579.html This application appears to be the result of the transboarder Joint Ve...

Fanblade, I respect the youthful exuberance. Trying to save this group from themselves is a daunting task. Why people can not figure out that 1 minus 2 is a bad number on their own, is beyond me. Through personal experience. Trying to explain to people what can be expected around the corner, what is...

Re: The AC Pilots Private Forum is temporarily unavailable.
However the original forum was closed over litigation directed at ACPA by the fly past 60 camp. It included naming the individual forum moderators. That is categorically incorrect. Your credibility continues to suffer as you repeatedly publish rumours and misinformation instead of fact, and I for o...
