Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

I am sorry you got furloughed, but honestly writing on AvCanada just to stir the pot isn't productive. Maybe your time should be better spent finding temporary employment until this hopefully blows over by next year. The exemption was to allow more time for the company to slowly bring people back be...

Re: Will Westjet survive?

All this WestJet optimism is wonderful. Even though it strikes me as a bit delusional. Fact check. 40% of WestJet traffic flows through Alberta. That’s in and out of Alberta. When they’re back in the sky they’ll be starting with close to a 40% drop in domestic traffic. Ouch! That’s going to impact ...

Re: The Return to Normal?

Sounds like AC wants the unions to bed over and heed to the needs of the company in this uncertain future. WJ has already played chicken with the WJ pilots and in the end got what they wanted, cheap labour going forward.

Thanks for the help. Spreadsheet Excel or Numbers I think is the safest option. Who doesn't like a good spreadsheet?

Re: Will Westjet survive?

I don't think Onex Corp is too worried about their WestJet. They're looking for buys. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/onex-touts-ability-to-survive-pandemic-seize-opportunities-1.1412645 The chief executive officer of Onex Corp. is reassuring shareholders it has the ability to survive the COVID-19 pande...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

WJ has the luxury of saying whatever they want to the media. They're no longer a private company and therefore have no horse in the race when it comes to bad news. AC is being surprisingly quiet about their financial situation. I wonder if they will be asking for government money in the near future.

Re: Everyone’s talking about it...

Also, keep in mind all we're really talking about right now is 705. Where a real problem is also starting to show is at the 703 level. When I first started flying you needed at a MINIMUM, 1000 hours to sit right seat in a Navajo. And that was already low considering the years before you need thousa...

Re: Everyone’s talking about it...

No I worked a 705 job where I did my own flight planning, created and filed my own flight plans, did my own weather briefing, calculated my own fuel, and ordered it, and it just felt like something I did sipping coffee in the morning before I started work. I didn't know that pilots who are flying 7...

Ya it's real boring when billionaires start launching their electric sports cars on 3 rockets strapped together that later land upright.

Boeing SLS and Starliner, not just Airplanes

Something that doesn't get discussed on here since the constant ridicule of Boeing and its 737MAX is the NASA SLS and and Starliner programs. We are at the cusp of new space age with private sector about to get NASA crew back into space. The amount of thought and engineering that goes into these pro...

Good morning folks, I’ve recently been pooled and am super excited about it. I have a couple questions for those of you that commute: -Currently, how long of a wait is it to hold a YYC base? I’ve read the threads and consensus is about 2-3 years. If approved, would a shared seniority list with WJE ...

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...

I noticed a pretty sad looking Swoopster at sim the other day. I guess he was doing is his FO ride after sitting in the left seat for most of the year. Welcome to the real world buddy.
