Re: How I love Transport
Hey Guy, I need to report a change in address. Can you PM me with details? As a pilot you might do that at the time of your medical, or inform TC licensing of the fact via FAX. You can contact them directly at the local licencing office. You can find a number for your local office here: http://www....

Re: How I love Transport
Hedley, I think you made a good point, though there are some tc, current and retired/x-, that do post here without a big problem..And if I may expand, they not only have to take the flak for all of TC, they have to also take it when FTU's charter ops, pilots/ames screw up and want to blame someone....

He still occasionally lurks: Last visited: Mon Apr 05, 2010 3:46 am But I can't blame the guy for not posting here any more, because any public TCA employee here is put in the position of having to defend everything the bureaucracy does, which is impossible. Re: How I love Transport
God I loath that bloody MSI29 crap. If someone was able to come down and talk to him/her they should have been able to sign it off right there. Funny how the levels or service letter only works in TC's favour and when they are unalble to meet their own ridiculous standards there is no explanation. ...

Didn't know him in TC, but knew him *as* TC for many years.
Certainly made some waves... good for him.

Re: Looking for Transport Canada Civil Aviation Inspectors
One should never look for a TC inspector. They're here to help, they'll find you. Well, if we are doing our job... we should find you at some point. Interestingly enough, all of the operators I visit welcome me. I do my job, and so do they. Most operators want to conform to whatever standards they ...

Re: Looking for Transport Canada Civil Aviation Inspectors
TC Guy Thanks for the info. It sure helps to hear from someone who has something constructive to say, rather than than just from the usual posters who immediatly go into "auto-rant" as soon as somebody says "TC". Thanks, BPF - part of the reason I stopped posting here is that I became rather tired ...

Re: Have you ever been asked your AvCanada @ an Interview?
I don't have a facebook account, and never will. My wife and kids have specific instructions of what they can say about who I am and what I do. Why? Am I a bad person? I don't think so... but as a regulator, can you imagine the shitstorm that could happen if someone said the wrong thing? Posted a pi...

Re: Looking for Transport Canada Civil Aviation Inspectors
I have been told that the new Assistant Deputy Minister has said that we will need to fill all vacant Inspector positions before (If I remember correctly) July 2010. Again, I am going from memory from a rather long speach that I has to attend... the public pressures due to the recent SMS issues in t...

Re: Laser flasher gets fine
Interesting.
I have seen "Laser Flares" in survival kits used by the Federal Gov't.
I don't know what brand they are, but they are similar to this: https://www.greatlandlaser.com/index.php
(see "Laser Flare")

It is a good review to go to the CARS yourself.
I would try CARS 421.66.

If TC guy and BPF and all the others bashing you had any balls they would use there given names. Hello, Bruce. Giving my name here would not be in my best ineterest, as I am sure you can understand. A great deal of the time I am not exactly enamoured with the TCCA. I would be surprised if anyone was!Cat Driver wrote:There was a time when he was not exactly enamoured of TCCA.
It is the system we have, and I work within it to help as best I can, and even improve it when given the chance.

Re: Lets have a think tank on improving flight instruction.
Raising the cost of flying in Canada by a few dollars could mean better aeroplanes, and better instructors. Maybe it is time for these "progressive" ideas. Good poeple, good equipment. Better instruction? Very likely. The helicopter training industry here is very good. There are no cheap helicopter...

Re: Licenses "Date of Issue"
Hi, This may be a dumb question, but its been bugging me for awhile. When completing job applications, sometimes they ask "What type of license do you hold and when was it issued?" I always fill out the original date of issue when I first got my CPL. However whenever TC sends me a new license the I...

Re: Teaching someone how to land
At the beginning of my career I used to teach the end of the runway thing. The reason is because I didn't know any better and that was the crap that Transport Canada required to be taught to me. Now when I freelance, I teach the 400 feet version. I would be interested to see the "crap reference" yo...

Re: How would you change the Flight Training Industry?
Maybe TC Guy can post some of their solutions to this downward spiral of the training industry Doc. I don't have any magic solutions, Cat. When I entered this industry some 20+ years ago, it was really no different. Instructors were paid poorly, and many (most? all?) left to better, greener pasture...

Re: Instructor Renewal
As for the examiner, they are based with TC, DFTEs from the school can't do instructor rides so the question becomes which office you want to renew with. I have never known anybody who has requested an examiner so I don't know if this would work. Not exactly true. As of 2006, renewal rides may be d...

There apparently is a procedure (with a cutoff date in March) for ...

Does that mean that every pilot who's file with TC is checked as "French" will have to pay to add English proficiency to its licence?!? So tell me TC Guy, what you think should be done with your top managers such as Preuss and Nowzek who were found guilty of not allowing due process to be followed for a Canadian citizen in their decision making to protect some of their own? As I have said, Cat... I don't know. I wasn't there. I AM,...
