Who's getting hired and who's getting PFO'd?

For those who got hired or PFO'd, what kind of experience/education/languages/references/etc do you have? I'm wondering if they're looking for a certain type of person this time around. Also, what were the timelines for interview, medical, and offer/PFO? Good luck to all.

Re: GS dates

So no one even knows of anyone who has been called for the Feb 21st GS? Seems like they're cutting it pretty close as that's less than two weeks away! Anyone know when the next GS starts?

GS dates

I know the next GS starts on Jan 31st, but does anyone know when the following ground school dates are? Has anyone been called for a GS date in Feb or March?

Considering the pilots are bonded a couple thousand for a nice Armani suit, I would wear a suit to the interview. They don't seem like a blue collar shop.

Re: Flight instructing @ $18/hour or $35/hr

If you instruct an average of 5 hours per day, you will make an extra $85 per day at the further school. You will also spend an extra hour on the road, 30 minutes each way. Based on this logic and all else being equal, you have to decide whether it's more important to save an hour of driving or make...

Re: Question About the Glide Ratio

Glide ratio is forward distance travelled divided by altitude lost. When all your engines fail, you want to maximize your glide ratio. Most light aircraft have a published best glide ratio at a specific best glide speed.

Re: Cat 1 medical

If you are unfit to fly but can still fly SAFELY, try to do as much dual as you can. You don't need a medical if you're with an instructor. Maybe even start working on your MIFR, float rating, or doing ground work towards your instructor rating.

I might as well hijack this thread too. Anyone have a soft copy of the B1900 manual? PM or reply. Thanx.

Re: Getting your license

Once you get your PPL and night rating, try to build up as much night PIC cross country time as you can for your ATPL. Be nocturnal, sleep during the day and fly at night. Just like a bat.

Just email them a copy of your electronic logbook or burn them a CD. Not too hard to replace if they lose it.

Re: Teaching someone how to land

I'm not sure where you guys trained at but I would say letting someone solo at 15 hrs total training time is a bit dangerous. I'd say at least 15 hrs in the circuit. It'll take a student a while to master the circuit related radio calls/ATC, watch for traffic, master the emergency procedures, ect. ...

So the per diems are $1.60 per hour. How much do you usually get in per diems in the average month/year? Is that money for meals away from base or do you get a separate allowance for that?

Re: Done the SAMRA lately?

When I was doing the SAMRA (and SARON) I had extreme deja vu because I had done the Aerocourse practice questions in the preceeding days. I know I say this a lot, but most of the questions will be identical to Aerocourse. And by the way, no I do not work for Aerocourse. Not trying to advertise for t...

Re: Pretty simple people

Once I had to go really bad, so I resorted to using a public washroom. I rush to the only available stall, only to find a huge loaf sitting on the seat. Wow, and I though I couldn't hold it any longer! This guy couldn't hold it for the extra nanosecond it takes to center your ass on the toilet.

Re: Help Needed in a BIG way.....

If you have no flying job lined up, take the dispatching job and build "seniority" there. At the same time, look for a flying job at another company or do an instructor rating and instruct part time. As soon as you get a better flying job, take it, unless your company is putting you one the aircraft...
