Re: Low time pilot opportunities abroad
One can even buy a type rating ( Im sure a few old school types will be on my case for that suggestion) BUT it is what most pilots (europe) if not all pilots do once they get their license. They pay for a type rating on a Dash8 or 737 or airbus... In Canada we are a bit behind the times when it com...

Zenon DHC-8-200 Job
There was a recent post for DHC8 job in Ethiopia. Looked good, sounded good. Until you find out the offer. Initially $4000.00 / month. But considering the state of affairs and the number of applications the hiring company received. The employer took advantage and quickly dropped the salary to $2700....

Pilot Training Record Request to TC
I am trying to retrieve a PTR for helicopter flying I did back in 2012. I sent an email asking TC for a copy of my PTR which I assumed they have on record either scanned into their system or in a box in the basement. The response I got was: Here are your records from 2005. Five pages of random log p...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
Some of what you say is correct and some of what you say is not. Yes companies - and I don't care how big or small they are look at the bottom line. Push em through - we spent $$ on them and we don't have anyone. We can't fail them - there might be consequences. ie - lost investment, lost contract d...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
B208, digits - as stated in the thread - notes, emails, letters, and calls were made to the various people - it went to the top. There was effort made by a number of people indicating that continuing was not a good idea. The driving force behind hiring or keeping someone on is sadly purely economica...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
Corethatthermal - agreed.. More time is spent on justifying the 1% and not looking at the consequences of making sure a standard is met and if not then dealing with it. Flie in the pie.. I have to wonder who is looking for validation here with over 7000 posts. You must know everything to be so dismi...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
Iflieforpie. Thanks for adding your two cents and basically saying we don’t know what were talking about. This is not one event or a few events bcz someone is having a bad day. This is over a period of years. There is a history of hiring and firing and BSing one’s way from one place to another. Read...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
core that thermal - This is not a gender issue. This is strictly a complete incompetence issue. The core of this is that someone has been able to move from one place to another and slips through interview bcz that person lies, manipulates, creates false stories, spreads garbage, on top of not knowin...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
This person is not that. This person does have the 2000+ hours and I have flown with this person, trained and line checked this person. My god it was the most frustrating and tormenting event to watch someone that believed they knew how to do it but had no capability to retain the simplest of tasks...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
BCnomad, I have a sneaky suspicion that this "person" is a female but due to political correctness, I guess we can never say ? As I said. There is a vast majority of great people in this industry. This is not one of them. Male or female this one only does a disservice to all of the hard working ind...

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?
Well It is sad day in aviation for sure. Unfortunately, someone sent me a photo of someone that is exactly that person that should never fly a plane or even be in one. And guess what? After being hired and trained and failing and being told to improve and being helped by every good soul in each comp...

Re: QC25 Harmony uflymike
I have the new Ufly mike setup. First of all I love it. I do a lot of travelling overseas and I use the Bose on the flights to cancel out the riffraff. I use the setup on a Dhc-8-300 and 400. Perfect. Here is the bad: There is something wrong with the connection in the swivel part of the mic. I am g...

Re: Low time pilot opportunities abroad
Interesting... At 45 - maybe he is smarter not to want to take it up the ass like everyone else has since day one. This is the only industry that gets you to spend a fortune for your license so that you can spend it on the ramp or dock for 2 years just to prove you might want to be a pilot. Just bec...

Re: Low time pilot opportunities abroad
The shitty thing about aviation is that everyone wants to you to have 500 hours and then 1000 hours and then 1500 oh and then tail dragger time and then float time and then aztec or navajo and or some other variant. There is always some sort of BS reason for someone not to hire you and to make you w...

Re: AFRICA Calling
Update - Arik Air has rumours of turning out to just be a boiler room to launder money. Apparently there were around 400 pilots employed. A huge percentage of which did not exist.... Therefore the "salaries" of the fake pilots went to the crooks. This is the latest rumour since it was taken over by ...

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/air-canada-pilots-removed-from-plane/article25575318/ BTW - AC has a program for employees with a substance abuse issues. CDNs are not perfect.
