Re: 1200TT pilot with jet time advice

So crazy how things change, so many of us would have killed to fly a Q400 at 1200 hours. Now getting strapped into the right seat of a 737 with the ink still drying on a CPL for 900 hours makes you too "experienced" to fly a Q out of major airports! Good luck in your search! Buffalo Joe vibes much?...

Re: WestJet Encore Pilots File for Conciliation

It's getting spicy alright. There is a pile of encore pilots who deferred their AC start date (old news). The Sunwing merger makes future flow very questionable and uncertain even for the folks with a seniority number. Does anyone know why WJ Mainline pilots "took away"/ voted against keeping the PT...

Re: Reserve or line to start?

With Encore's social system (is that what's it called?), will you most likely have to start on reserve as it's with Jazz or you have a really good chance to start with a line as it's with Pasco/CMA? To answer your question, you USUALLY start on the line if you bid against reserve. If you want reser...

Re: Aero Course ATPL Mach questions

I used an E6B app. I went to "plan mach no." Enter the 0.83 at -45C, this gives you a TAS of 488.53 mentally you know it's westbound and winds are a 40-knot headwind but you could toss that in the calculator as well. In short, it was 448.53 GS Then you go to the leg time function for leg time or you...

Need atc recording, porter airlines.

There was a funny recording i heard about. It was porter airlines, no not when they tell ATC she sounds beautiful. But it was when they were in New York I think. They took the wrong exit and the ground controller was like "porter ya killing me" Anyone heard this and know if there's a video out there...

Re: Caravan 208 B

If you learn the engine you learn the plane. Hot starts are caused mostly by a lack of Voltage. Make sure you have the min to start. the POH is very good. Great machine to fly, stay on your numbers, and don't push yourself at the beginning. Everything said above was bang on! but I only used one with...

Re: Advise on first flying job at 500 hours?

I am pretty much in the same boat as you. Although, I have around 260 TT. When people are saying there is a ''pilot shortage'' , they're forgetting the word ''experienced''. Currently in Canada, there is shit ton of low hours pilots like myself and others. I've tried the ramp jobs and I've literall...

Second time writing IATRA as first time was March 2020 and is now expired (I don't fall within the 10 month extension window) Anyways, I've been studying quite a bit and decided to purchase nizus for this time around. Is it just me or did anyone else find that some of the nizus questions seem sligh...

Re: ATPL Night PIC Xcountry

Hello, I'm sure this question has been asked a million times but with no actual definition of xcountry is it just up to Transport Canada to decide what qualifies? I've heard a good rule of thumb is 25nm. For me the easiest flight is to take off from my home airport, fly to an airport 20nm away, do ...

there are multiple ways. I didn't read any replies on this thread so sorry for repeating anything there Depending on company size you may call. Also if they say don't call on the ad then. don't call. Go to PCC to find out the chief pilot name or OPS manager name. When you call you gotta get past you...
