Re: Turning 40, career change?
If you really want it.....Do it. Go all in and just do it. YOLO. I did what you just described while raising 5 kids all under 10 years old. It can be done, but sacrifices will have to be made in the short term.

Re: A Career in Aviation or Law Enforcement?
Hi Everyone, Thank you again, Anthony Sent you a message. Call me. Coles Notes: Laminar's post is good. The previous post is also accurate, and it's kind of what I did. But I will always caution against police work for all but the most committed individuals. It's a shame really, because we need goo...

Re: FAA/TC ATP Verification
I already had a FAA ATP but wanted to add types. I went thru process and got the verification letter showing my current ATP and types, but like you without a current Canadian medical despite it being stamped in my book. The guy in SEA didn't care. He only wanted to see my US FAA Medical. It was a n...

Re: FAA/TC ATP Verification
Same just happened to me. TC and their bullshit. I am due to have it signed off by the FAA on zoom in Jan after waiting months for the FAA to book it and confirm my documents. The way I view it is that not having proof of the medical doesn't mean anything for a conversion. For example, you have a T...

FAA/TC ATP Verification
Hello, I am in the process of converting my TC ATPL to a FAA ATP. I received my verification letter from TC via the FAA yesterday. In it TC says I hold a ATPL etc etc and a CAT 1 medical. However it goes on to say that my medical expired last year. I have since renewed my medical on October 22, 2021...

Re: Medical/Technology Rant
Does anyone have an approximate time it's taking to process a medical on their profile. I did my medical in October 2021, and I just applied for a verification letter for a FAA license and it came back with the old expired medical. I confirmed with a lady at TC that they have my medical there (it wa...

Re: Was one list a good idea
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t WestJet have to go from the bottom up for layoffs? Regardless of swoop encore or mainline? So they can’t target mainline pilots? But if 100-200 pilots get layed off won’t that shut swoop down, because all the swoop pilots are new? Read section 8 and 9 of the PTA....

Re: MyIDTravel (Changes?, Cancellations?, Refunds?)
Need Some MyIDTravel Help! I am just curious if anyone knows how to make changes, cancellations, or refunds through MyIDTravel. Each time I put in my PNR/Ticket #, the option to "Re-book All", "Re-book" & "Cancel" are grayed out, and I am not able to make any changes. The message "The associated bo...

Re: Schedule/reserve/layovers
Thanks for the replies folks. How do they determine your base before you’re hired? Is it just randomly assigned? Or do they give you a bit of a choice in the matter? Also, how easy would it be for a new hire FO to live in YHZ but commute to YYZ if based there? Do any of the YYZ pairings start with ...

Re: Schedule/reserve/layovers
Just curious what your guys and gals schedules look like for both YYZ and YYC bases. Also, what are the scheduled layovers that you typically do? Is it mostly 4 day pairings? How does the social bid work in terms of reserve? Most pairings are 4 day pairings, followed closely by 3 day pairings. Ther...

Re: One List is Back!!
Glad to hear the one list is back! How is the whole PTA thing going? I heard flow has stopped for an undetermined amount of time? Any truth to the rumours? The PTA is in force and enforceable. The rumours are true, but flow is promised to begin within the month, if they haven't already begun. Man, ...

Re: De Havilland contemplates stretched, shrunken Dash 8-400
There are some systems, wing, and fuselage differences, that would make it hard/expensive to build them simultaneously I would say... Chop two sections out of the 400 fuselage, replace the PW150 for something smaller than the 150 but newer than the 120 series, and you'll have yourself a 50 seat air...

Re: Commuting with Swoop
Thanks all for the info. Surely it must be possible to jumpseat or go standby on your own airline though. Swoop does a decent amount of flights from Halifax to Hamilton. It's just whether the cost of doing so would be worth it in renting a room, other transport costs etc Swoop currently flies from ...
Re: One List
Or maybe it's the fact we don't like being threatened with a pay cut for voting no. Would you like to elaborate on that? Keeping the value of our stock options post Onex takeover is now dependent on us voting yes to the new pilot transfer agreement. The email said you will get full value market for...
