Re: Net Worth
Maybe its just me, or old fashioned values, but this thread is only marginally about aviation, and, at least, in my opinion , quite boorish. When did discussing our net worth with a bunch of strangers become interesting?

Re: Southwest has lost its mind.
The other perspective here is the FAA was going to, or is going to have a look at seat sizes in general. A good proactive move, then by Sunwest. A huge potential saving to avoid mandated larger seats and less cabin density. Giving up some seats on every flight , particularly in this market where loa...

Re: Can a training bond that was NOT signed be enforced?
He did not say all the training. Provided the employer did the required dedicated training and the captain had a single pilotPPC ,( and company Ops allowed it) nothing wrong with gaining experience on rev flights. Lots of parts missed out here. How many hours dedicated ground school and training? Lo...

Re: Can a training bond that was NOT signed be enforced?
Let me see. 1. The company trained you on a Navajo 2. About 9 months later they trained you on a King Air … and you pulled the pin You sound exactly like the kind of person that companies require bonds for. It seems the company trusted you for the King Air training, though I don’t suppose you mentio...

Lets be honest here.
No great adventure story starts with ‘ we went for a couple of salads’
Sad to see aircraft ruined like that.

And those that can’t think beyond slogans seldom solve problems
You should be a bit careful who you infer does not know.
Looks like WestJet got the memo. Proactively cancelled all flights to Vancouver tomorrow. Good on them. It is a tough decision but the right one.

Re: To the Airlines
My issue is the corporate mentality that is directing this. And yes, glad I am out to pasture and was able to fly in the good old days. And they were good.
They have to get some management that knows how to actually operate an airline.

To the Airlines
We all understand the weather can throw a wrench into things. But stop selling tickets if not you do have the people to crew them. The CSRs and ground staff. And stop treating people like idiots. My flight tonight. As scheduled. Boarding at 20.50. At 20.52 announcement there was no flight crew and t...

Re: CYBW Mooney Crash
I am a bit surprised Rookie that you quoted me out of context. Perhaps I wasn't clear. I included that he was a highly experienced instrument pilot. That being said, under normal circumstances what someone doing a type training flight would typically be more interested in going through procedures on...

Re: CYBW Mooney Crash
It is my understanding that the pilot flying had zero instructional experience. A bit puzzling that he was in the left seat. In any event he did have hundreds upon hundreds of IF experience throughout Canada , the US and transatlantic trips. If only the two of them had all the wisdom of the posters ...

Re: Trudeau’s proposed luxury tax…
When it comes to the whole aviation industry there is a very concerted federal government effort to phase it out or downsize it greatly. A luxury tax is just part of it. Security at airports, draconian Covid restrictions for air travellers based on political science , not medical science. The great ...

Re: Is One Hour of Fuel Remaining Over Toronto a Fuel Emergency
If I understand this situation correctly, the island was not an acceptable alternate. Why the crew would not have diverted to an acceptable alternate rather that return to an airport that would require them to declare an emergency baffles me a bit. It does seem like when their destination was unavai...

Re: Is One Hour of Fuel Remaining Over Toronto a Fuel Emergency
Nope. What I was stating is that it is not any sort of regulatory issue to land with less than your planned reserve. Declaring an emergency is a bit of a sidetrack. Nowadays pilots are so afraid of running afoul of TC, common sense goes out the window. As to this particular situation, if YYZ, (and f...

Re: Is One Hour of Fuel Remaining Over Toronto a Fuel Emergency
Digits… . Which would make it an emergency if they tried YYZ first and couldn't make it in there and then landed in YTZ with an anticipated less than final reserve fuel. I don’t think you may really understand the purpose of reserve fuel,( as so many others don’t as well.) The reserve fuel is determ...

Re: Voyageur Insulting Ad
Fair enough. Point taken Exaggeration for effect. But the real point I was trying to make is that there is a huge clamour and demand on here for employers’ to state their pay. Then, as in the OP’s case, if they dont like it, they title the thread as an insulting Ad. Maybe entitlement is not the righ...

Re: Voyageur Insulting Ad
And this thread children, is why companies do not typically post salary. Nothing like some entitled little snot who just passed their CpL written and flight test ( each on the third try) with 200 hrs…..and feels they should jump into a $100k a year job to start. You dont like the salary offered. Don...

Re: Dear HR Departments:
Let me understand this. You want to see the pay scale so you can decide if you want to apply. Demand AvCan to require it. Is that what is referred to as entitlement? Of course employers should post that. And none of the 200 hour wonders who think they should be starting at $100 k with 12 duty days a...

My condolences to the family and friends of the pilot that lost his life. And to the pilot that was injured.
And to their families and those affected by this.
Perhaps we could all postpone the keyboard anslysis and speculation for a bit

Re: No longer able to see 20/20?
I may have some-good news for you. Hopefully it is still current. TC allows you , in certain things, like vision and hearing to fall below the limits as long as you can still fly safely ( the testis no accidents) We see this much more commonly with the practical hearing tests, but it does ( or used ...
