Re: How will the ATPL changes affect the industry?
this requirement is entirely useless beside act as a roadblock for any FO who currently holds a 704 or 705 type rating. I can understand the requirement of PPC on a 2 crew aircraft, but PIC requirement is an unnecessary stumbling block. It will take time for bid language to reflect this and I would...

Re: AC Incident Nashville
This “Captain” candidate should never have been in the left seat with his non-existent decision making skills. No surprise though, as he also decided it was a good idea to upgrade. He very clearly had no concept of his own limitations and this crap should have been caught ages ago. I’m almost certa...

Re: Canadian vs US Airline Executive Attitudes
It seems Canadian execs are willing to pay exactly what Canadian pilots are willing to work for. If you collect the guys and gals who were willing to take less today, they might just take less tomorrow.

Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale
I have not been a part of that org. Seems they do the routes without autopilot or gps, start before their day before and finish after many pilots, load and unload their freight and only get on wing training. If a low hour pilot can hack it there why wouldn't he or she be able to do it with months of...

Re: Advise on first flying job at 500 hours?
You've got the ratings and qualifications available at your hours. Resume review is a good step. Especially for the PIC single engine jobs most people hiring turn to the resumes after they have asked the guys they know if anyone is looking for a job. I know a guy who regularly calls everyone he's ev...

Re: Sandy Lake Seaplane Service
Sorry for your loss Liam. I have some good memories working for T&T. Tom made good moose stew and was a far better float pilot than I’ll get ever get around to becoming. The 500 hours or so I flew at SLSS taught me more than the next 1500 hours.. feels so surreal to think Tom won't be bombing around...

https://nationalpost.com/news/world/canadian-pilots-held-in-dominican-republic-after-reporting-huge-cocaine-stash-on-plane This NP article mentions Suriname. I recall seeing one of these jets in SMJP last year and didn’t see many C tails. Curious stuff. https://insightcrime.org/news/analysis/trials-...

Re: Encore interview request
Just curious if anyone knows candidates that had good educational background, references, and work experience but between 500-1000 hrs or even the minimum 250... do they even bother with that experience level? Sent in an application with 2000 and 1400 PIC with a few years...

Who is out here signing a 18 mo. loan agreement with 2,000 hrs and ATPL to fly the north? I wouldn't consider it for a jet just on principle but for a turboprop its laughable

Re: Job - Navajo vs Metroliner/KIng Air
Be cautious about that PIC carrot if you’re a low hour guy. If we’re talking a place like flyGTA then you’re moving PAX and it’s busy airspace. Not saying it can’t happen, but I’d double check with someone who’s moved on from there. Not great sitting right seat in a plane that doesn’t need two pilot...

Re: Wasaya 'apprentice pilot'
Take the best option you have. Simple as that. In my time up north I've seen some apprentice pilots with Wasaya. They get a PPC quite early on a Caravan and fly right seat which is loggable time in their COM. They get some valuable exp in my opinion and do some rampie stuff. Seems like a half decent...

Re: The Coolest Flying Jobs In The World!
You forgot about a locally exotic location that so many of us senior avcanadians have spent time in. It's a four season, 4 star location that has many picturesque views any time of the year. It requires precision flying to get in and out of quick , and if you are fortunate enough to spend a night y...
