Re: Yr 1 FO $130k

I think if they have any hope of getting high time, experienced applicants they're going to have to do around 200.

Re: SkyLink pilot union takes pay cut & b scale

That just seems too ridiculous to be true. There must be some sort of hourly or trip bonus.

Do these guys have a certified GPS on board yet?!? Recall them filing airways everywhere and unable most arrivals.....

You are competent, have time and a ATPL if you’re
making that kind of money. Stay where you are and enjoy your life. The seniority boat has sailed by about 3000 30 year olds.

If you’re company goes under, you’ll slide right into 6 figures and a good life elsewhere.

Re: New CA Expectation

While I agree that I hope and expect a sizeable increase, I'm not holding my breath. This union vs AC fight will become very public just like the WJ one. How will it look to the regular CBC watching public when something gets leaked about captains wanting 400/hr while the economy enters a slow down...

Re: New CA Expectation

I want the AC Shareholders to -DIRECTLY- tell me why Canadian pilots need to earn 1/3 of their American counterparts. One third. Tell me why. If the answer is legitimate, and very convincing, I may settle for it. Otherwise, GO POUND SAND . I think to fully understand why, we need to study the Ameri...

Re: New CA Expectation

Agreed! Plus this isn’t just pulling out of Calgary the city, this is WestJet headquarters. We’re literally giving them market share on a silver platter. Wouldn’t be surprised if WJ started making announcements of new European routes being added in the very near future. Meanwhile AC is coving more ...

Re: New CA Expectation

It’s a good idea, to re-deploy those aircraft off the lower yield routes and onto more profitable ones. They will funnel more passengers through the three main hubs. I kind of doubt that. Maybe some but a lot will shift over to WestJet. Why take a 12 hour day with a connection to go south on AC vs ...

50% of barely anything is still barely anything and then some.

Re: Pros and Cons btw FO and RP?

RP position is not guaranteed J on a deadhead, which I'd imagine would be quite aggravating when you're getting sent over to Asia on a 12+hr flight.

Re: The "Yes" side will be full of regret

You guys finally have some dialogue going on and you’re going to vote yes for $1300 more a month?!? I guess the starving FOs have no choice, and the others would have probably left by now if they weren’t planning on following the fall PIT course promises. You guys have all the power, and you’re goin...

Re: New CA Expectation

All very good points and thoughts. I think it’s fair to point out that “standing up and demanding” better wages is equivalent to an old baboon pounding his chest in an attempt to assert dominance. You can do that all you want but it isn’t going to change anything at the bargaining table. What’s very...

Re: New CA Expectation

So what’s the solution so we can be paid decent wages if AC won’t raise to $100/hr year 1 FO? This is the question that keeps popping up in my mind. The long and the short of it is there is no easy solution. If the border opened up with commuting contracts.....well that would sure change the landsc...

Re: New CA Expectation

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about wages and working conditions here at AC. From a simple supply/demand stand point, I still do not understand what leverage AC pilots have to get massive uplifts in pay? Everyone and their three legged dog is applying to AC and willing to trample over th...

Re: Gazette Part 1 - New fatigue management regulations proposed

Would someone be willing to explain to me how a Fatigue Risk Management Program would allow a 705 carrier to be exempt from these new proposed rules? Seriously? I have taken part in a Fatigue Risk Management course where they explain all the obvious things a human being already knows about sleep. Do...
