Re: So everyone is leaving?
Left years ago as well and couldn't imagine myself ever going back under the shit pay and conditions offered by the majors there. The grass is greener but we do get little brown spots from time to time but pretty much no company would ever give you that perfect grass. I can't wait for the US to open...

Re: US Airlines Hiring Canadians
You don't need the FAA ATP to apply but it is a huge strike against you in the eyes of immigration. the way these lawyers do it, it really isn't. i think what they want and i can't remember the exact number so don't quote me but i believe it's either 5 years or 10 years in the aviation industry for...

Re: US Airlines Hiring Canadians
Atlas air is actively recruiting Canadians under the EB-2 visa but I believe you need to have your FAA ATP done before they'll sponsor you. It's not difficult, just a bit expensive. Here is a good run-down: https://www.google.com/amp/s/skiesmag.com/news/transport-canada-faa-convert-canadian-atpl-fa...

Re: The Taliban
I don’t really want to show off my ignorance but… Why would they have left any aircraft behind? Bagram was pretty empty when we were last there roughly 3 months ago. Kandahar when i was last there six months or so ago was still quite active and busy. I have no idea how much of their AF they got out...

Re: Do people still drive cross country to drop off resume's?
More than 15 years ago I did a road trip starting from Southern Ontario and as I reached Elliot Lake I dropped into a float operator with a 185 and he offered me a job for the rest of the summer. He told me he never hired anyone from just a resume but wanted that face to face communication. You jus...

Re: Countries better than Canada for flying?
That's roughly 31-40K CAD a year. Not 5K USD. [per month] Big difference? 5,000$USD = roughly 6,000$CAD a month multiply by 12 = 72,000$CAD a year versus 35,000$CAD (Averaged) That's 37,000$CAD a year less, or 50% less whichever way you look at it. Not sure about you but for me that's a hell of a d...

Re: Countries better than Canada for flying?
Nice smoke and mirror show! Glad to hear you are making a good go at it in DXB but you are either very senior or very new in country. A few corrections/clarifications if I may; In order to not pay any taxes in Canada one needs to divest themselves of all Canadian bank accounts, property etc to be c...

Re: Countries better than Canada for flying?
Currently here in Dubai. Having done the whole Canadian aviation thing and making it to training captain I couldn't stand the low salary, commuting, taxes that was involved with the whole industry. Decided to pack up and leave years ago and haven't looked back since. Yes the summers suck. (currently...

Re: Ability to Jumpseat for free on any EASA Carrier??
Considering how "jumpseating" is a very north american thing i would tend to say no.
They more then likely would just tell you to go on myidtravel and get your booking that way.
I wish you best of luck but highly doubt it you would get a jumpseat 0$ fare.

Becoming a pilot with a DUI
Good day community, I have a friend who's looking to getting into aviation but had a DUI on his record. I have no idea what that means for him and I'm sure some of you have heard or had the experience yourself. I know when I worked for bush operations and medevac it never mattered however have heard...

Any info on their aircraft type? They use to have a PC12 way back in the days operating chartered flights as well. I just don't know if now is a great time in Western Canada to open up a new Charter company?

Big bond that includes you signing a bank loan with Voyageur of which they repay as long as you are employed.
Very different tactic.

Re: Foreign License
Not that I know of.
I'd recommend going to a flight school / Flying club and going up with an instructor. You get to fly, he has the valid license.

Re: Pilatus Porter in Indonesia
Flying over to Indo on your own dime to get "evaluated" for the possibility of flying a caravan as a "first officer" is a pure joke.
I would stay away. The way the industry is right now there is no need to go that route.
You want adventure? Plenty of other places that you can do that.

Was curious if any of you know how long until they give out answers and how many pilots they are looking to hire for the coming season?

I know someone who failed the Jazz criminal background test due to an old drinking and driving incident. As long as it's on your record, I don't believe any majors will hire you... Get it pardoned!

Re: How to Log PICUS in your LogBook
I created a new column in mine named "PICUS" and had it all added there (it didn't go towards my total hours). I then just proceeded to put the hours under CO-PILOT as usual for the hours to actual count towards my TT. PICUS is strictly for transport and just requires you to submit a company form th...

This "information" is just hilarious to read... Clearly he's a low timer that's just pissed off at the world because he can't find a job and isn't willing to leave Quebec and go live up north. (going thru his post history) You recommending to go "fly for FREE!!!!!!!" is the problem here. To all you ...

SunWest Aviation
Hi,
I noticed Sunwest posting quite a few ads which is great and showing the slow turn around in Alberta.
I was curious if any of you had any updated salaries for Sunwest pilots. The 2 positions I'd be most interested in would be the current openings for the Lear 45 FO and Sovereign FO. Thanks.
