Re: PBS
The text about getting the best schedule vs. a fast schedule makes me question why the protocol is different for December. Shouldn't every month give you the best schedule you can hold? I understand there are a lot of requests for time off around Christmas but if the system awards requests based on ...

Re: Is ALPA a bust in Canada?
100% agree. Doesn't mean you have to buy it though. Definitely can't complain about it if you do.dumpsterfire wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 7:37 pm
MEC Chair...recommends this TA
MEC...selling it
Tim Perry ALPA President...Essentially endorsing it...
ALPA National...wants this done
I'd say pretty big sales pitch from ALPA

Re: Is ALPA a bust in Canada?
Let's not forget it's the pilots voting yes on these terrible contracts. Maybe ALPA knows them better than they know themselves.

Re: Why all the gnashing of teeth??
It is a low blow to blame those seeking a better life and tell them it is their own fault for trying and that they should have known better. Many would agree they feel betrayed by their ALPA representatives in this moment. In what world would they be voting yes in support? Who can expect this of the...

Re: Pilot unity will get results
In reality there are three main parties at the table, though the relationships may be muddy enough to count as five - company, company/union, union, union/pilots, pilots. You could argue the government is also at the table however their support is up for debate in the current political climate. The ...

Re: Pilot unity will get results
So far, to include the bottom 12 in the YOS grievance who were previously left out and reduced pass fees to align more with what the FAs already have. Are a few things that should have already been included enough to sway the vote just enough to pass? Doubt it.

Re: Pilot unity will get results
The company is now offering a few slivers of improvement outside of the TA and negotiations. After telling everyone this is the very best deal they could get, the union is communicating these improvements as a way to sell the current TA and to diffuse some of the anger surrounding it. It doesn't mat...

Re: ECC Economy Class Contract
They left no penny on the table, but pennies keep falling on the table. All the more reason to send them all back to the table. If the company and union are currently working to ensure this TA passes, surely they can come up with a new, properly negotiated deal the pilots will support. None of this...

Re: Pilot unity will get results
It has been gutting to watch the wheels fall off like this. At the very least they could have remained professional, unbiased and transparent. The trust is gone and this whole thing has become bigger than the TA. Many are processing a breakup with their leadership instead of celebrating. Once the sh...

Re: Recall of the NC
The MEC Chair cannot very well stand up there and tell everyone to vote no on a TA they brought to you, that would be bad faith. Nothing about her messages have been celebratory thus far. There is a high level of strategy occurring here on the company's part and if you can't see that then I would ta...

Re: Pilot unity will get results
The best way to show some unity is to show some respect to the process. No one is getting a contract that has everything they want, no one is getting a contract that has nothing that they want. Respect the process whether its a no or a yes majority, and move forward. Show your respect to the people...

Pilot unity will get results
Below is a recent example of what a unified pilot group looks like and where it can lead. United Airlines pilots were able to achieve: an industry-leading increase in pay raises over the life of the contract, as well as quality of work-life and work rule improvements, sick leave and vacation improve...

Re: TA
The company truly believes this TA is enough. They can maintain and argue this defence with anyone they speak to or negotiate with until proven otherwise. They could have easily used this defence had it gone to arbitration instead of a vote. Nowhere does it state that the company must take into acco...

Re: Negotiations
AC is not stupid. They are purposely leaving Jazz to bleed out on the table and one must ask them self why. No raises, no retention bonuses, nothing we have seen in the US - they do not care if Jazz can staff itself. It seems like a pretty easy way to "organically" take back more of their own flying...
