Re: Mud swerves a plane

I don't think I have ever landed on a muddy surface. Maybe back in the days of offstrip tundra tire flying but with the little wheels on almost all light aircraft, it seems like something best avoided for a variety of reasons, some to do with safety... "C-GTBK, a privately registered Piper PA-22-16...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA

This talk about what the PF should have or should not have or could or could not have done is getting on my nerves. Nobody gets to be a Snowbird pilot without having proven to be one of the finest among us. That means they not only know how to take off an wobble around a pattern on a Sunday morning ...

Re: Air Tindi Flight Missing

Since the CP AI failed and was not snagged on the ground it could raise a company culture question. Alternatively, it could raise a question around a specific piece of equipment thats always broke, or is at least experiencing a series of failures in a short time. I had five flight director failures ...

Re: Air Tindi Flight Missing

This accident sequence has me asking some questions. 1. What are real world failure rates for G1000 or similar flight decks? Not talking about a bug or incorrect setting but rather loss of adhrs. 2. Do you find the company culture shifting when a certain piece of equipment is so unreliable that its ...

Re: Pilot leaves towbar on runway??

I am recommending ‘walking around’ around the airplane to double check the items I mentioned but not another pre-flight. Just a 30 second thing. Of course, if the pre-flight check was the last thing you did and you just, you might decide not to. But it is frequently the first thing you do followed ...

Re: It might be best to get a top up enroute

The difference is a cultural difference in every area of life. USA values independence and individual freedoms, Canada values compliance and social cooperation. Both cultures show in the air. Kinda goes back to 1776.

Re: New North Star Basler Accident (Number 3)

I always felt that the legal way wasn't necessarily the safest way or even close to it. Something all newbies should learn quickly in aviation. Pelmet, I think I know the premise of what you're driving at but are you seriously advocating and/or urging the "newbies" to break the rules? You can't be ...

Re: King Air at Gillam, MB

Because no King Air has ever had a fuel leak. And no King Air has ever had faulty gauges. And no King Air has ever had mismanaged fuel loading. And certainly no King Air has had a cap left off. Neither has any King Air ever been captained by a pilot that made fuel miscalculations. Also, no King Air ...
