Re: Air Canada voted top airline in Canada and North America
KAG, Sorry for the mis-interpretation. My therapist told me I should count to 10 before making any rash decisions. Makes my sim partner sweat from time to time.... :) btw, my tv is 27 inches, but it's not the size of your tv that counts but who is allowed to handle your remote... Also, I do a...

Re: Air Canada voted top airline in Canada and North America
You guys and your profit share checks...it's getting a little tiring, always throwing it in everyone's face. For a respected airline, you sure don't demonstrate much in the way of class...at least not on the respectable forums of Avcanada anyway. And btw KAG, I bet I have a tv just as big as yours, ...

Re: Jazz to get 737-800
All the bashing and jealousy in this thread is a prime example of why we need a common pilot's union in this country. I've never seen so much jealousy in a group of professionals. ACPA is only concerned that Jazz pilot's don't gain any self respect; Westjet is bent on world domination (all the while...

Re: Jazz to get 737-800
oh god, those ACPA boys must be going CRAZY over this! Would love to be a fly on that wall. I'd be surprised if they weren't trying to co-ordinate a hostile takeover of Jazz just to make sure those boys and girls never step foot in anything other than Dash's and RJ's.

Re: Westjet Service going down hill fast
I find flying with Westjet is like dining at "McDonald's"; whereas flying with AC is like dining at "The Keg". Just a touch more class, and a little more professionalism.
Just my 2 cents...

Re: DaveP
arictaylor, What you are saying makes sense. The problem is, most of those Jazz pilots pfo'd from AC, end up going to WestJet. So Jazz still has the extra training costs. Doesn't make a lot of sense. A Jazz pilot is not good enough for AC, but they are good enough for WestJet? What a crazy industry.
Re: DaveP
I could never figure out why a pilot is good enough to fly Air Canada pax on a Jazz airplane, but not good enough to fly Air Canada pax on an Air Canada airplane. In the end, all those Jazz pilots pfo'd from AC generally went to WestJet. Why would Air Canada want to "fuel" WestJet with good pilots? ...

This is a friggin' mess. I'm disgusted with myself for actually reading some of it...especially TS's childish remarks. The type of airplane you fly isn't what makes you a real man...it's how fast you can skate....

Re: AC and Jazz Amend CPA
so when they say "fleet renewal", do they mean the entire fleet? Are all the RJ's, including the 705's, being replaced with Turbo-props? Or will AC be deploying more EMB's on Jazz's RJ routes, and Jazz will be downsized and left with Dash's only? Wow, if that's the case, Jazz will take on a complete...

Dreams Take Flight
I just saw the "Dreams Take Flight" on the news and I have to say, what an amazing thing Air Canada is doing for those under-priviledged kids. A class act! Good on you guys and gals involved!
Good to see the media report something positive on Air Canada once in a while.

Re: Finger painting Air Canada
Jastapilot, I guess my post was a little contradictary. WestJet has done a great job of building an otherwise non-existing market, but the mistake people make is rating the two carriers on the same level. They are in fact not on the same level: AC is an "international" carrier, where as WestJet is m...

Re: Finger painting Air Canada
It's good to see Air Canada advertising in this manner, showing the forgotten "classy" side of the airline. This is what Air Canada is about, but it has been slighly overlooked the past few years because of the continuous onslaught of low cost carriers such as WestJet, Jetsgo, Canjet etc, etc. It is...

Just saw the finger painting commercial for the second time in 20 mins....gotta say I love it! Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. +1 to the marketing department. Keep it coming please. Air Canada needs to keep pumping out these type of ads. Makes potential customers feel good about their potentia...

Teacher,
Your scenario makes sense. You would see the younger guys/gals flying the 777 to far off places, whilst the older folks do the shorter hauls in the Emb. Leave the long hauls to the young buck's/doe's, and the short stuff to the oldies who just want to be home with their families.

Re: Encouraged by Cal??
Air Canada is still being run like it is a Crown corporation. Back in the day, the company was given a bunch of money, and since that day, management has never really learned how to run an airline. Inject cash, then instead of investing in the company to make it run better, they strip it clean. AC m...

Re: WORLD'S BEST AIRLINE NAMED AT ANNUAL AWARDS
Tony, So it sounds like it's not a customer service issue with AC, but an upper managment problem. How long before someone finally says enough already, forget what the shareholders think...lets get this company back on it's feet. From what I understand, Jazz has done a good job of refineing and stre...

Re: WORLD'S BEST AIRLINE NAMED AT ANNUAL AWARDS
bmc, Better customer service would be a good start. Then perhaps Air Canada would gain some of their lost customers back from the competition. The more people that fly on Air Canada, the more money it will make. It's a pretty simple model really. Having a good product would also give the employees t...

Can someone please staple those award results to Calin's forehead so everymorning when he is brushing his teeth, he will be reminded the real reason he was brought in to run Air Canada. Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
I think you are missing the overall picture: Jazz (as well as Georgian and CMA) are used to bring people to and from Hubs. You can't measure how much they lost on the direct cost per seat mile alone....you have to also factor in how much did AC make on that passenger buying a ticket from Sudbury to ...

Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
It should be Jazz pilots to the bottom of the AC list. The most senior Jazz guys won't have to worry about anyone taking their captain positions on the RJ or Dash, and the less senior ones can either wait for a Dash or RJ upgrade, or jump all of that and continue right seat duties on something large...

Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
A merged seniority list would only mean good things between AC and Jazz. The ACPA guys should want it to keep Jazz from taking their flying through lower wages, and ALPA should want it to allow Jazz guys better career progression.
In my eyes, it's a no-brainer.

You westjet guys are still new and inexperienced....and still love the taste of Kool-aid. Some day you'll be smitten and bitten just like the AC guys.
