Re: AC pilot salaries now?

He obviously is a youngin who has never cleared north of 60K. It would be interesting to see his honest opinion when he’s making 350k. Which he probably never will. And wouldn’t be honest anyways. So why bother even engaging. It would be interesting to see what your honest opinion was of people mak...

Re: AC pilot salaries now?

This pandemic is evidence that the 300k captain is actually nothing to do with contributing to the economy. Without passengers the job is useless. It's the passengers buying the tickets that move the economy. As for progressive taxes, why would someone who makes 50k a year be empathetic about the ta...

Re: AC pilot salaries now?

60k income takes home 46k in Ontario 300k income takes home 174265 or about 4x as much take home. When gross was 5x. I wouldn't take silence for agreement on this one. 53.5% income tax is high on your top dollars in Ontario. in 2015 it was 46.5% when Wynne and Trudeau each raised income taxes to ou...

Re: AC and WJ to Start Using Middle Seats Again

How many stupid things things will you see with covid that make zero sense? Today I was at the splash pad with my kids that is normally not occupied by staff. They now have two life guards staffed all day. Every half hour they turn off the water and go around spraying sanitation fluid on everything....

Re: AC pilot salaries now?

60k income takes home 46k in Ontario 300k income takes home 174265 or about 4x as much take home. When gross was 5x. And if you make 301k you take home about 500 more than the guy who made 300k. I'd say, making more money is clearly pretty damn good. Even with our taxes we have very little to compla...

Re: AC pilot salaries now?

 I know how our tax system works. I just find it hilarious how higher income earners complain about it. They try to make it sound unfair. They say "we pay more taxes" and while yes you pay more, you pay the same taxes on the same income earned. You pay the same taxes on your first 60k as the 60...

Re: AC pilot salaries now?

Anyone whining that 180k is too much doesn't get it... and hasn't seen the tax bill, let alone that of the guys at 300K. Actually everyone knows what the tax bill is because the 300k a year pilot pays the exact same taxes as the 60k a year pilot on the first 60k of income. Funny how people complain...

Once again Rockie...you are wrong. Now stay in quarantine while we get on with life. Maybe a separate AvCanada forum can be set up for you. The rest of us have a life to live. Wrong about trusting science over internet trolls? Once again...it appears that the internet 'trolls' are not as clueless a...

I would take 5k and put it on Transat puts that expire in a couple months. Then I would take the rest and put it in VGRO.

Re: Delta to run with 60% max capacity planes

You can put 100 people in a plane, or 300. It only takes one person with covid to infect others.

I'm curious if this move by delta is data driven, and proven to work, or is it just to make everyone feel better.

Jepps posted: I did forget to mention job security. Although airlines have failed/furloughed/merged as well, however that risk is much lower. Really? With the clarity of today, do you still think the risk is lower? I heard a rumour (without Any evidence) , that over 30% of the airline pilots in the...

Re: Terrible news for the Air Canada work force...

I'm curious the breakdown in what people are travelling prior to covid. Business vs leisure vs essential government etc. My guess is business travel will permanently reduce by about 50 percent. Many businesses have moved to alternate methods to conduct meeting etc. Leisure travel will come back grad...

I would not say they got bored is 100% accurate. If I remember correctly there was a lot of negativity from the industry while they were active. You have to ask yourself why put effort into making an industry better when a big part of the industry was so negative. The question to ask is, Do we have...

Except half the population won’t have 2 nickels to rub together after months of unemployment/severe recession. Lufthansa is on the cliffs edge now.....(like most airlines I'm sure.) It wont be the last either... Re: Lufthansa May file for bankruptcy

Airlines, specially in Canada, are probably the most hated industry no matter where you live in Canada. Doesn’t help airlines refuse to refund tickets for cancelled flights and give credits instead. ...and why should they? If they give refunds - they will collapse. This was completely out of their ...

That's exciting! But I'm the last person who could pass on some wisdom. The only thing I want to add is consider something rather than a 172. You could buy something awesome, maybe a tail dragger. The 172 is what works for puppy mill pilot schools but that doesn't mean it has to be what works for yo...

I think merger makes sense more now than ever with covid going on. Rouge will be eliminated. Even at 18 a share Transat is a bargain. The writing in on the wall with rouge. Definitely see Transat shares taking off because investors know this deal will happen. If it is such a bargain , than why isn'...

People need to look at what is happening around the World. 85-100% fleet groundings with the same percentage of lay-offs. Borders are closing around the World - then there will be a lockdown preventing domestic travel. It's an entirely New World and we will all have to adapt to the new reality. AND...
