Re: New North Star Basler Accident

If they weren't aligned with the runway maybe airframe icing and loss of control were a factor again.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

There are much better operators than Emirates. That kind of statement means he's is pretty out of touch. I'm surprised the boomer didn't say go to Flying Tigers or "Sunwings". Of course he has to maintain the antagonistic labor relation standpoint. Wouldn't want to show any weakness with an reopener...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Use to take 10 years to FO wide body. Crazy!!!! Making 50 grand in the right seat , I think AC pilots should not look any other airline crew in the eyes as we walk by in the terminal. We suck...... I'm a bit surprised foreign carriers aren't actively trying to poach these WB FO new hires after they...

Re: The challenges for us all in flying green

There's a lot they could do to cut emissions in aviation. Even just having ground crew ready to marshal you in instead of sitting there for 5 minutes every time you arrive in Pearson would save tons of carbon in the atmosphere. If ground power and air-conditioning was put on the aircraft as soon as ...

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

Only rich kids will sign up for this, which means Jazz is in it for the money and not quality of candidates. Definitely lost respect for Jazz. I don't know if I would give my kid $126k to get a $40k a year job, sounds like a pretty terrible offer. They want a post secondary education too so factor ...

WestJet also had a 737 with 97k cycles on it. I'd imagine it's the cycles that get you not the hours. Remember the Hawaiian 737 convertible. It had 89k cycles.

Re: 50 of 737NG planes grounded after cracks found - Boeing Safety issue again

737 wings are so floppy anyways. They bounce up and down like three feet when just taxiing around! Trolling are we? That wins the most retarded statement of the year, hands down. :prayer: watch a B52 takeoff and see what wing flex is really like. WestJet had a 737 with more than 100k flight hours o...

Re: Joining the RCAF at 37 years old

Speaking from the perspective of a former military flight instructor. There are many reason why military flying training is done the way it is (reasons that are forgotten / not known, surprisingly, by the current generation save for few older pilots like myself). The most compelling reason however ...

Just smile and nod. It's always fascinating to see the mental gymnastics of the regional pilot telling you why his job is better than AC.

If you got IP banned for the above comment that's ridiculous. You just said what we are all thinking. Skimping on maintenance of primary flight instruments shows little regard for the lives of your crews and borders on criminally negligent manslaughter. I'd never work for a company that did that.

No, the non-binary people feel they are neither male nor female. That's what this is catering to I think.
They are entitled to feel that way, but do they have a vagina or penis?
Don't do a google image search unless you want to be very traumatized.

go to Transat instead and get paid 55 760 $/69 535 $/$ 82 610 $/89 898 $ (plus almost all the same extras) the first 4 years and then wait for AC.
That doesn't really seem much better. Does Transat have profit sharing too? That's how people are making $70k in their first year at AC.

A stall speed of 26 kts and a strong headwind must have made that a pretty cushy crash.

Victory, a small percentage of the population identify as "non-binary"..personally, I'm not in the know enough to explain it.
Thank you. I've googled it and am now up on non-binary and genderqueer peoples. Now I get what the Q stands for in LGBTQ2 stands for. Don't ask me about the 2 though.

Who exactly does ladies and gentlemen exclude? If you are a transgender woman would you not want to be called lady? Same for a transgender man. Please someone fill me in since I think I'm getting old and out of touch with society.

If they could be somewhere else starting their seniority do it. Never put your career on hold waiting for HR. They are notoriously heartless. The one exception I guess would be Express. You couldn't accept a position there if you were maybe in the pool at AC because that would kick you out of it.

The company can assign you any position it needs to as a new hire. They try to respect seniority when possible but your first bid is not a real bid. Right now they need WB FOs.

Re: A message to all GGN Pilots from a Jazz Pilot

Jazz (ALPA that is) has to decide on a cut off date, as it would be really unfair for any new Jazz hires (coming off the street) to be over taken by GGN pilots that end up dragging their feet beyond the agreed cross over deadline. Aren't Jazz pilots from PML 1.0 are overtaking off the street pilots...

"Zero thrust" settings are usually a bit liberal since the instructor or check pilot doesn't want to die.
