You mean like on the G-IV? http://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/AccidentReports/Pages/AAR1503.aspx A mechanical interlock between the gust lock handle and the throttle levers restricts the movement of the throttle levers when the gust lock handle is in the ON position. According to Gulfstream, ...

Re: Top KHL Squad killed in Russian plane crash.

Very sobering video from what I gather taken from the Wx station. http://www.ntv.ru/novosti/238742/ It could be a number of things (mistrimmed, runaway trim, dragging brakes, spoilers extended, aborted abort, wrong intersection, multiple hydraulic failures, bird ingestion, mismanaged fuel, engine bl...

Having liaised with First Air operations for the better part of that fateful afternoon and night, I can only say that their professionalism, focus and clear thinking were unparalleled. The composure that Mike D and his team showed while the events unfolded is in a class of its own. My condolences to...

So what does the tower do with the runway lights when they "close" the field?
No CFS or Jepps within reach but I presume ARCAL for the medevacs?

If no ARCAL, then it is a very simple logic gate.

Moose47, I know, hence the "", but to me it will always be the RCAF.
Somewhere in the big CY(M) in the sky, there's a squadron of Arrows practicing intercepts ;)

Fighter jets and FIKI

This subject came up in a conversation: do fighter jets have any de-icing/anti-icing? I know that they can melt it away with friction heating, but it's hard to do a non precision pushing 400kts... not to mention the miles it would take to slowdown to gear extension speed. Especially with a quarter i...

Re: Weight and Balance... This is an option?

When an Air Canada or westjet flight leaves the gate and leaves behind cargo (ie is weight limited) do you really think it is within limits? When's the last time you saw a plane full of individuals actually respecting the TC "standard" weights? There's a reason why there is no push towards weight an...

Re: Trust Fund for fallen Conair co-pilot's family

A very commandable gesture on your part and completely understandable. Despite the terrible tragedy that your family is going through right now, life will go on for those of you that are left mourning. The least we can do as a big flying family, is to somehow express our gratitude for what he was do...
