Re: Pix From a Swamper - Remembering Craig Chenell

It was the easy way to give the floats enough float for the turbine conversion instead of totally rebuilding the floats or extending them.

Re: YVR for New Hires

Lots of open spots for YVR, but don't expect to get them in new hire classes. AC needs to fill the spots on Rouge for start up June 1. So look for 319fo and 767fo spots up for grabs.

Re: Pacific Island Air and Seaplanes

I think most people are confusing pacific island with turtle. Totally different operation. I spent a year there and loved it. Always dream of going back someday. You definitely make more money in canada, but it is tax free down there and the lifestyle is what it is about. Think of it this way, hot w...

Re: Westjetters back Regional Airline 91% say yes

I hope this works out but can't help and think of how it turned out for qantas guys. They were all told it would never happen and now look where they are. Minimal scope, with the ability of the company to change it if they feel, let alone the blank pages left for them to write what the want. I wonde...

Re: Pending DUI and effect on WJ

Not sure when you got your DUI, but in BC there is a province wide appeal by a large group of people that were falsely tested. A few months after the new laws came in the RCMP admitted to not having there roadside screening devices properly calibrated and thus giving false guilty reading. There is a...

Re: quest kodiak or a dhc turbo beaver on floats

I would suggest making a stop at the Telus hangar, they have both and can could give you a full break down. They have recently got the Kodiak thinking it was gonna be better than the Beaver, with speed, performance and range. But it hasn't lived up to anything that the manufacture was claiming it wo...

Re: Pix From a Swamper - Remembering Craig Chenell

This is such a great site. The pictures are awesome. Brings back alot of great memories. This may seem crazy but it makes me feel lucky that I had the opportunity to gain the experience of flying in the north and the bush. Some of the best flying time.

So here are a few from awhile back..

You will be missed my friend. Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit si...

Re: CHRT Remedy Ruling?

Was there somewhere that it stated about V+K seniority numbers? Was it in this temp agreement? Or is it just assumed that they are coming back as 1 n 2. The seniority list is set every year. Put them at the bottom and let them build up seniority with new hires all over again. I am sure they would lo...

Don't think you will see any of the beavers as part of the deal. Half of them are owned by Viking and are just on lease, WCA has managed to make the baxter ones revolving parts store and as for the ones that are flying I believe that Tom had a couple in other family members names. Not to mention tha...

Its not cause of there love of flying, its cause they have nothing else but a boring life and need work to survive. If it was for the love of flying, then take their boat loads of money they have made over there career, plus the juicy pension check and buy a plane an actually go back to the roots of...

Re: Rumors of AC hiring soon, any truth?

It is crazy that anyone can say they need to stay for the money, most of the guys are at the top of the food chain as it is. You have to be pretty stupid to have not been financially preparing yourself for retirement fully knowing it was coming at age 60 from the moment you started at AC. Even if yo...

Re: Rumors of AC hiring soon, any truth?

Also remember that the ruling is going to an appeal( So ruling can be changed) as all the info was not viewed by the courts and that it was based on a one sided perspective. Some changes are gonna have to occur, Meaning hiring, especially with 767 in YVR since it is getting daily China's back. Don't...

Heard that the Hiring/HR group was getting back together at the end of October and to start things back rolling again. There is a list of guys who were told they were hired but never offered a course date and then interviews for new year. I guess the unreplaced retirements are starting to catch up..

Re: Can we fly on the side????

Yes you can, talk to your MLO and they can arrange it providing you are not working for competition. You have to get an approval letter and that comes from Doug Bastow, you can email him directly to. Approval letter is good for one year, you just have to make sure you don't break any CARS regs. Not ...

Re: equipment bid

Even if the CHRT changes the age to 65, aren't we legally obligated to retire at 60 because that is what is the contract and what pilots agreed on? SO come 09 no madder what happens with CHRT, not that it will get done in time, won't it go to what the majority wants in a legally binding contract?
