Re: Ramp to Pilot Position Waiting Times

Recently turned down a PIW job with an operator in the Arctic. With the first interview I was told six months, then the next day for the second interview it was a year. A few days later with job offer, it was 18+ months. Clearly nobody knows how long this nightmare is going to be around. I've been c...

Sounds like a great time. Paying to get sardine'd into economy seating to look out the window.

I think most people here will recommend springing for the full PPL rating. It'll make you a safer pilot.

Re: IFR flight test tablet requirments?

Having just had my flight test a month ago. I just had Foreflight on my iPad and my iPhone. Examiner didn't say anything about a battery backup. Just make sure you have paper plates onboard.

Re: Cornwall aviation for IFR 3 training?

No you don't need your multi rating to do the Blast Off. You'll do all your flying in the Seminole for your IFR rating or in the Redbird sim. Most people do both ratings at the same time and do their multi flight test a few days before their IFR flight test.

It's only an hour commute to Cornwall from Montreal and I can't recommend them enough. They actually make you a priority and are reasonable with your wallet. It's a small school but they focus on you while you're there.

Re: Seneca or Confederation College

Confed doesn't seem to be doing very well lately, and yes you'll have to go elsewhere to do the multi-IFR. Cornwall is awesome so I highly recommend them.

Seneca and Waterloo are both big programs that move a lot of students through.

Re: Cornwall aviation for IFR 3 training?

I did my Multi and Group 1 there very recently and absolutely loved it. Great instructors and fair examiners. Can't recommend Cornwall enough. They don't nickel and dime you to death and respect your wallet. That being said, their Blast-Off program is intense, expect to be flying twice a day and pro...

Re: 250hr Pilot Advice

Now we are back to the only people that this industry can attract are those who are willing to work their asses off in the middle of nowhere for the remote possibility of a King Air job for poverty wages until this nightmare ends. Is THAT even an option right now? As a 250 hour wonder myself I can'...

Writing has been on the wall sadly for a while for most 1900 operators. Hopefully they figure out something on their own and can keep operating.

I was in the exam same situation when I filed my paperwork for my CPL. I ended up doing a crash course on IFR approaches in the simulator, did five hours straight one night.
