Re: New uniforms?

Yes, generally pilot uniforms are pretty bad. We for some reason have two styles of jackets. Double-breasted for the skippers and single for the rest.
Both still a bit dated.
Hoping for an update to the uniform at some point.

Re: Carson C560

Having to sit (or sleep) at the airport for the duration of your scheduled shift is far superior than being on the cellphone and getting a call at some ungodly hour and then starting a 14 hour duty day.

Also, no long haul pilot sits for 15 hours straight at the controls. We get bunks!

Yup...

Poorly maintained, abused and flown by poorly trained pilots, these Metros, are certainly pieces of shit.

Other ones, are good airplanes that just require a bit more respect than your King Airs and Navajos.

Re: Cathay Pacific Transition Training.

Sadly you still have to do your time as an SO no matter what hiring stream you joined on. Right now its sitting at 3 years. Its an easy job but towards the end also a bit boring. There is some labour strife. Next on the negotiating block are rostering practices and seeing if we can get a better hous...

Re: OK -- why

The European TA/TL system makes little sense, is nonstandardized and adds an extra (very important) step in already busy terminal areas.

I did a lot of gliding and some towing in YNJ. Never loved it. Too tight, not may options for rope breaks and engine failures. Especially off of 25.

The Caravans should not have too much problem with winters on the Coast. Oh - come on V1. LOL! I'm sure there were quite a few days you scrubbed due to WX. Course it wasn't much of a problem to have a metro do double duty. The last couple of winters saw both Morningstar and Sunwest caravans idle. I...

Re: Skylink Express in BC?

The Caravans should not have too much problem with winters on the Coast. Morning Star has been running them exclusively. But yes, if a MTCE issue crops up on the sole 1900, what then? I'm assuming that the 1900 will be the YLW plane? Also how will they do the work with 3 planes that used to be done ...

Re: A sad day in Canadian Aviation...

It's a travesty. We know how many Canadian aviators got their start with that program. One is in orbit as we speak. More of the same from the Harperistas. It must be part of "Canada's Action Plan"

Maybe it will be contracted out, right?

Re: Report released into fatal near Fort St. John

Talking on the phone as a contributing factor? How is it any different than talking on the radio? Especially with the length of time from last phone use to time of impact. Black hole I definitely buy, especially for someone with little night time experience and hardly any in sparsely populated areas.
