new Classic Airline

Hi all,

Just wondering when the new classic airline is supposed to start it's operations? Also will they be hiring FAs off the street and outsourcing under the wing operations?

Thanks

Re: Canada Jetlines

The Spirit pilot group had to push hard to achieve the wage rates they have today in the form of a strike not that long ago. They were allowed to shut it down until an agreement was reached to be paid closer to industry rates. Encore/SKY/Jetline pilots will have to do the same if they want to improv...

Re: Transat to use Foreign Pilots

@whipline. Does Sunwing own hotel in most of it's destinations? Or mainly in Cuba and Mexico? And when you wetlease the foreign aircraft are they on a deal similar to a power by the hour contract? or is it a monthly fee? I'm just curious to know if fleet utilization is less of a concern with the wet...

Sunwing's schedule

I've noticed Sunwing flys out of many smaller Canadian cities, offering flights direct to the Caribbean/Mexico etc. But some of the flights are only on a weekly basis and with only a few destinations offered from some cities. Does this create the need for many ferry/positioning flights in order to m...

Pilot career centre states Sunwing will operate 40 aircraft during the 2013/14 winter. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

Re: Porter's loss of slots at EWR

Realitychex your writing style and content remind me alot of "The Bean".
I have a few questions for you:
1) what is your CASM estimate for Rouge?
2) when WJ Encore is at 25 aircraft, what effect do you think it will have on WJs combined CASM?

Sunwing labour negotiations

Does anybody have any updates on the ongoing labour negotiations at Sunwing. Have the pilot or FA unions set strike dates yet? If so when do they plan to strike?

I'm no expert but I thought Jazz was already partially spun off as a trust fund. And that was before spinning off the mainline. And Milton has been quoted as saying that ACE may seize to exist one day. And Jazz was not included in the mainline spin-off. Who really knows what they have planned but it...

what happens

What happens when ACE sells off Jazz, the mainline and all the other companies and seizes to exist. Would the new GS still hold true for 2 separately run companies. This is how I think it will eventually end up within the next 5 years, probably sooner. The argument that pilots working for jazz and t...

dockjock, What did your friend mean by 2 days training. The 340 RPs get 7 sim sessions total where as a F/O would get something like 11. Alot more training than just RD and ED. Plus your IFR is renewed so approaches will definately be covered. And I have also heard that before they layoff RPs that t...

I also interviewed in August and I still have not been called to start, however I was called to write the new tests. Do you end up writing the tests??? The impression I got was that all of us in the pool will get a gs date regardless of the outcome of the exams. I was told you can score as "invalid" on the exams if you lie or are too positive. Thats all I really know. I wouldn't worry about the exams at all. Bob Clarke told me he would contact me i...

age

Dockjock, They are hiring a mix of ages. Most of the new hires have not been very young. A few in there low 20s with lower time but most have been high time, very experienced pilots. It seems like people are focusing on the few that got in with lower time (mid 2000s) but that is just a few of 100 ne...
